7-8 games in and I’m struggling to see what Ugbo offers us as a team.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but he has scored 3 goals so i am waiting to see if he is one of those players who has a knack of being in the right place at the right time or whether he just got lucky early on.

I hope there's no clause in the loan agreement that he has to start if he's fit - do such clauses still exist nowadays?

If he doesn't score he doesn't seem to be contributing much else at the moment. I would start Meite ahead of him and maybe even Grant as centre forward when O'Dowda is fit again.

I’d give Etete a start. He looks stronger and more confident too.

He’s better than watters and Harris which was a good starting point from this time last season. He may not be the answer but he is an improvement when we were working with an embargo. Goal scoring forwards and in high demand.

Should have had a hat-trick in first half against Coventry. He doesn't make any runs or hold the ball up. I'm surprised he is still starting games to be honest. Why isn't Robinson getting more game time?

Playing in the streets as a kid, the term was he’s a goal hanger.
But agree with you.

He has got those 3 goals and they were good finishes. But if Robinson is fit I am surprised Ugbo is getting in the first XI infront of him.

He may well improve his overall play as he gets used to the physicality but at the moment a fit Robinson seems, to me, to be the more complete player.

From what I’ve seen he is very busy and likes to get involved.
As others have pointed out, He’s got 3 goals which isn’t bad.

Cut the bloke some slack, We’ve had way worse in recent years - Alex Revell, Gary Madine to name a couple.
He’s not the finished product but he’s still fairly young , Give him more time.

Robinson doesn’t work hard enough for the team. Too lazy off the ball I reckon.
No doubt he’s brilliant on the ball , Surprised he’s not played more minutes from the bench.

I think that's why we were all willing a striker or centre forward in on deadline day.
Ugbo was seen by many many as a squad replacement for harris/waters leaving.

He's a bench player. Not a starter...

Get Robinson or Etete to start ahead of Ugbo. Robinson in particular is a class act - can create space, pass, score.

When you're backs to the wall, you have to have an outlet. Ugbo just doesn't gain or keep the ball up there enough for me. I realise he's probably not that type of striker but surely that's part and parcel of being a complete front man?

I've said since day one I don't rate him offers nothing really hes scored some lucky goals being in the right place at the right time other than that what's he done. He does nothing else really. Don't chase down defenders just walks about most the time and trys to hold the ball up but we winning so what do you do? That's down to the manager to decide.

The successful teams are the ones with squads that can rotate. Ugbo has done ok and played a part....I see Robinson start above him and in fairness Kion Etete probably deserves a start and a more natural 9

Ralls: Ugbo has 'really surprised me' -

Joe Ralls has praised Cardiff City's new additions this summer but said striker Ike Ugbo is the player who has "really surprised" him since coming in.

Ugbo has scored three goals since joining the Bluebirds on loan from Troyes and has installed himself as first choice, leading the line for Bulut's side. And while all signings have had a positive impact, according to Ralls, he reserved special praise for the 25-year-old striker.

"Karlan (Grant) and Yakou (Meite) I knew already and I knew they'd be great additions to the team. Rambo (Aaron Ramsey), obviously, as well," Ralls said. "Sio (Manolis Siopis) and Dimi (Dimitrios Goutas), two lads who have come in and been massive for us in the changing room and on the pitch. Two really good lads.

"Ike has really surprised me. He is a player I didn't really know. But even in the games where he hasn't scored I think his hold-up play has been brilliant.

"All the new signings have contributed already and they will only get better and better. Also the players who were here last year, we will be stronger for what we went through last year and we will come out of it better. Everyone knows they don't want to be in that situation again."

That’s a strange one for me as I see his hold up play, generally, as being the worst part of his game.

His movement is good and he gets into good positions and he’s scored a few, but his hold up play?

Hope he bangs one in later :ayatollah:
