MY VIEW: CARDIFF TOTALLY COLLAPSED AS CARDIFF MADE BIG

MY VIEW: CARDIFF TOTALLY COLLAPSED AS CARDIFF MADE BIG CHANGES, AS DID BLACKBURN REMEMBER ROVERS.

First-half City made a fight of the game and never gave up, unbelievable the 2nd half as City just virtually gave up.

City are out of the Cup, let’s get down to the business of beating Rotherham this Saturday.

But it does tell us what most knew, we have a lot of players not good enough as back up for the first team.

Both clubs virtually fielded their 2nd teams tonight:

Panzo had an awful debut and our defence was awful.

The 3rd Round of the League Cup

FIRST-HALF: Blackburn scored with in 12mins:
Route one and Garrett finishes.
Wahlstedt clips the ball over the top of Adams and Garrett takes it down brilliantly. He looks up and slots it past Runarsson very easily.

GOAL! Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Cardiff City (Robinson 18)
Goal! Robbo with a stunner!

36th min: Rovers retake the lead. Sigurdsson. (2-1)

47th min: Goal for Cardiff. Etete equalises on the stroke of half-time.

SECOND-HALF: 48th min: 3-2 Moran scores for Blackburn, then a penalty to Blackburn 52 mins, saved by City.
54mins 4-2 Moran for Blackburn, it was all Blackburn.

60th min: James Crole comes on for his City debut, replacing Kion Etete.
Debut time! Josh Beecher comes on for his first City appearance, replacing Kieron Evans.

69th min: Cardiff virtually collapse 5-2 Blackburn

72nd min Ashford came on for Tanner.
Plus Joel Colwill for Robinson

Blackburn were doing the same a lot of changes.

BLACKBURN 5 CARDIFF CITY 2
H-T 2-2

Cardiff City: Runarsson; Romeo, Adams, Panzo; Tanner, Rinomhota, Sawyers, Evans; R Colwill, Robinson; Etete

Subs: Turner, Fagan-Walcott, Crole, J Colwill, Campbell, Beecher, Ashford, Giles, Twose

Before anyone says it does not matter, it certainly does as winning games helps moral and let’s us see what the rest of our squad are capable of.

Plus if we had won, everyone would be on a high.

But if we beat Rotherham, yes I will take that before this, but I don’t think a lot of the remaining squad are not good enough.

Obviously disappointed with the result and that we're out of the cup.

But it sounds like Blackburn were always likely to win, they had better and more experienced players than us on the pitch.

Like you say, does show that our defensive and midfield players out there aren't good enough. We will need to bring in better back up players in January.

Disappointed to hear Panzo had a bad game because I think he's a decent player.

Most important thing us that we win on Saturday.

Although I agree with most of your post Annis, I have to disagree with the fact you think most of them aren’t good enough to play in the first team.

I would argue that most of them actually are. It’s just they’re not fit enough. Granted, there are some who started tonight I would argue wouldn’t get in our first 11.
However, based on the performances tonight, as well as performances we know they’re capable of the following would be fine in our first team: Romeo, Tanner, Robinson, Rubin, and Etete.
I would argue Panzo too based on his performances last season for Coventry, however at the minute the jury is out. He didn’t have any pre-season with Forest, so maybe that’s the issue with him.
Robinson, Colwill, and Etete all have a decent account of themselves this evening based on what I was listening to from Cardiff City Player.
It was always going to be a big ask with the likes of Ebou Adams and Panzo playing at centre back together. Panzo obviously still isn’t match fit, and Ebou isn’t a centre back.
Not worried about the league, because the defence looks like it’s turned a corner.

Onwards and upwards for Rotherham now. Then look forward to playing Blackburn in the league later on in the season!

It’s all about opinions:

I respect yours as well.

We actually got hammered tonight by ab also second string Blackburn side.

Let’s see what happens to the majority of these players

I rate highly Robinson and both Colwills.

I think we need more players in January to back first team up.

100% need strengthening in January. Be interesting to see what Bulut can pull off with some money to hopefully play with!

Onwards and upwards!

Just watched the highlights as I couldnt watch or travel. Sawyers at fault, or strolling back in the thick of it, for every goal.

Robinson, strolling back when play over turned and a goal scoring counter attack starting.

Panzo has had a nightmare.

Not good, absolutely carved apart at will. Cup or not, the desire of some to not bust a gut or stsy switched on was evident from the highlights I saw.

2 great goals mind. Colwill looked to be enjoying himself, also!

A night to forget. I agree, it does matter. These are our back-ups and (to me) it looks like an attitude dip for a chunk of them last night.

Positives...

Beecher looked good when he came on.

Colwill was probably our stand out player on the pitch (again).

Robinson and Etete scoring. Gives confidence.

Haven't had time to watch the highlights but doesn't surprise me about sawyers
Gutted we are out of cup, been ages since we had a decent cup run.
3 points on Saturday and will be forgotten though :bluebird:

Simply shows that we don’t have the strength in depth that is needed to push on .
This was the chance to prove themselves for the fringe players but some just weren’t good enough.
The exception for me is Panzo simply because he had virtually no pre season or football so far so jury is still out for me on him.

Yeah. Have to agree.
Sawyers never been an energy busting midfielder anyway, so doesn’t shock me.
We need to offload Sawyers. Maybe start bringing Joel in a bit more, or bring King back in January?

Ebou Adams good enough to bring on and close the game out in midfield. But, all them who played tonight proved they don’t get anywhere near our starting midfield.

However, very encouraging from the forwards and attacking play.

Let’s not go overboard, last night we made 11 changes. There’s a big difference between one or two players slotting into the first team when required and chucking a scratch squad together with players playing out of position.

Very experimental team selection. Worked at Birmingham but not last night.
Having a new centre back pairing with the midfield in front of them was always going to be a tester.
Perhaps that'll convince him what's needed come January

Players were given game time - Let's move on and back to the League and keep this unbeaten record of late :bluebird:
