INJURIES UPDATE:

Yakou Meite has been plagued by injuries for the last two seasons and is currently injured again with a hamstring injury which will keep him out till November.
Meite since the pre-season in Portugal with Cardiff has also been plagued with on and off injuries.

Kion Etete who has found great form this season under Erol Bukut is also out for a month with a hamstring injury.

EROL BULUT:

Collins is ok and available for Saturday and Robinson is ok as well.”

Aaron Ramsey will be out for 3 months:

Erol Bulut has issued a miserable Cardiff City injury update in which he stated that Aaron Ramsey will be out for at least two months, which means the Wales captain will miss the rest of the qualifying campaign.

Wales manager Rob Page on Wednesday said he was "confident" Ramsey, 32, would be available for the national team's November camp, after it was confirmed he was out of next week's games against Gibraltar and Croatia. However, Bulut has bad news for Cardiff fans, confirming he would be out for eight to 10 weeks, without surgery, due to his knee injury, however if he does go under the knife it will add a further 4 weeks.”

"Today I will tell you a little bit more about injuries. Aaron, we were talking about how many weeks he would be out, we were waiting also. But hopefully without surgery, he will be out at least eight to 10 weeks. If he does get surgery, it will be up to 12 weeks. If something happens in these weeks, it will add 12 weeks." Bulut said on Thursday afternoon

Injury update:

It’s been at on the day for both sets of fans.

Cardiff's injury troubles are mounting, with Ramsey, Yakou Meite, Josh Bowler and Callum O'Dowda are all missing for the Watford home game.

Now Etete could be out injured.

The Opposition's Manager

Valerien Ismael was appointed Watford manager in May.

He became known in the UK when he was Barnsley manager in the 2020/21 season, where he unexpectedly led them to the Championship play-offs - although they didn't get promoted.

After that, he went on to have spells at West Brom and Besiktas.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Mileta Rajovic has three league goals this season for Watford.

Tom Ince had 14 goal involvements in all competitions for Reading last season.

Head To Head

We have won two of our last five games against Watford, the last coming in our last meeting - in the Championship at Vicarage Road in April.

Watford have won three of those meetings, including in the Championship at CCS in November last year.

INJURY UPDATE:

Erol Bulut:

"We have many injuries right now. Etete got a hamstring injury, I hope it's not something serious.”

Cardiff's injury troubles are mounting, with Ramsey, Jamilu Collins, Yakou Meite, Josh Bowler and Callum O'Dowda were all missing the trip to the Riverside on Tuesday night. In many ways, the international break cannot come quick enough for the Bluebirds.

"Collins had already from the last game, pain on his knee, it was swollen. Also his hamstring, so we didn't want to put him out there to play. And today, Etete also felt hamstring pain. But, OK, we have to go on with what we have.

"We was in a good way. In the last four games we did well, also before that. I don't want to put it on injuries, but we had some changing of position. Collins would have been in his position and Ng would have been in his position and maybe it would be different, I don't know.”

"I hope on Saturday [Collins] will be with us, because the knee was swollen from the last game and his hamstring problems from the few days before. We didn't want to risk it."

Clearly, Collins was a big miss up on Teesside. It forced Bulut to take Perry Ng out of his natural right-back position, being deployed on the left, with Ebou Adams getting the nod over Mahlon Romeo, some would say that decision backfired a little. But it's all borne out of a problem on that left-hand side.

Collins has been forced to play almost every minute in recent weeks owing to an injury to last year's first-choice left-back Callum O'Dowda. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be some time yet before we see the Irishman back out on the pitch of the Bluebirds.

Bulut said: "Callum O'Dowda, he will be not available for a few weeks because of the tendon problem he had on his adductors. From what I know, he will take a little bit longer."

Ramsey has been a big miss over the last four games. The Wales captain picked up a knee injury in training the week after he scored from the penalty spot in a win over Swansea.

There was initially talk that Ramsey would potentially need surgery to fix the problem, which would have suggested a lengthier spell on the sidelines, but in a more positive updates, Bulut now hopes that is not the case.

Erol Bulut:

Ramsey does not need an operation:

"I am still waiting for the report right now," he said of Ramsey's injury. "I don't know yet how long this will take. From what I know, he will not get an operation. He doesn't need an operation. I hope he is out for as short a time as possible, but I am still waiting on when he will be available."

Please Erol, no square pegs in round holes against Watford!

We're now looking a bit short up front unfortunately. I'd be tempted to play Grant through the middle and CR47 behind him....but I don't think EB will.

We need that extra creativity and threat up front. EB needs to be braver against teams which are straggling. If he sets up negative I won't be pleased.

EB stated in an earlier interview that he sees KG as a winger and not a striker. I’d start with Grant, Ugbo and Tanner.
Ugbo has been found wanting lately but I think he’s more used to playing back to goal than CR47.

EB will defo play the 3 you've mentioned but I'm hoping he thinks outside the box.

You're right in Ugbo hasn't been pulling up trees - he struggles to to hold the ball up.

One of the reasons I said CR47 and Grant ahead of him is because that pair played well as a two at WBA.
There might be some chemistry there.

Bulut has tried that front 3 on numerous occasions and they don't seem to have a great first half all the time.

I suspect Bowler may get some game time. Bulut ought to mix things up a little.

I would add that CR47 is a better player than Ugbo and Grant IMO.

Don’t disagree with any of that Tuna. I always think with our team, to keep CR and Josh Bowler on the bench as Ugbo offers next to nothing off the bench.
As long as we win eh mate.

Perry Ng spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet Championship fixture against Watford at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.
The Bluebirds head into the contest eighth in the table, having picked up four wins in the last five fixtures.

“It’s been very good so far this season,” Perry began. “It’s a lot more organised, which is very good. I think you can see that on the pitch.

“We had a little blip on Tuesday, but I don’t think we can look too much into that. We had a few tired bodies, but we’re ready to go at home to put us in a good position before the international break.

“It was frustrating, especially the performance, knowing how good we have been and the drop in level, but I think from where we’ve come from last year, we weren’t expecting to lose and we know that we just have to move onto Watford and bounce back. I think we can do that, especially with the squad we’ve got.”
Watford are currently 21st in the table, having won just two of their opening 10 fixtures. The Hornets fell to a 2-0 defeat to Sunderland in midweek, with defender Ryan Andrews being shown a red card in the second half.

Perry continued: “I think they’re always a strong team. They’ve always got strong individuals. They’ve obviously got a new manager, which does take time.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about the manager, so we’ll be expecting a tough game. I'm a little bit surprised by where they are, but we can’t look too much into that. It’s only ten games into the season and they’ve got some really strong players, so we’ll have to look out for them.

“We’ve had a few knocks and bruises in our camp, so we have one more big push at home in front of our fans, where we’ve been good this season and it’ll look good then going into the international break.”

Cardiff beat the press thanks to a lovely ball from Alnwick out to Collins. Collins sprints down the wing and looks to find Ugbo, but the striker had just made the wrong run.

Dangerous cross from Matheus. Alnwick has to pounce on it.

Close! Great wing play by Ugbo, who chops inside and centres it to Wintle, who knocks it on to Grant. Grant shifts it on to his left and drills one low but Bachmann gets down well to save! It pops out to the six-yard box and Ugbo slides in to try and poke home but it's just out of reach of his outstretched boot!
