Mehmet Dalman and certain supporters:

Sun Oct 08, 2023 5:33 pm

Cardiff City Trust once again meet Mehmet Dalman:

We were invited by the club at very short notice to a meeting chaired by Mehmet
Dalman at 12.15 pm on 7 October. Also in attendance from the club were Ken Choo, Phillip Jenkins, Wayne Nash, Amy James, Mark Denham, James Bibby and
Paul Corkrey. Representatives from the Supporters Trust, Supporters Club,
Disabled Supporters Group and the Travel Group also attended.

Mehmet Dalman opened the meeting by saying that he had no agenda and the
floor was open to questions from Supporters Groups and the meeting was part of
his commitment to improved communication.

The positive atmosphere surrounding the club at the moment was emphasised
although the current injury list was a cause for concern. Mehmet commented on
the defeat at Middlesbrough and the fact that the players had really taken it to
heart.

There was discussion about improving attendance. Mehmet stated that the
impact on the team of having a larger crowd was of more significant importance
than the financial effect. The difficulties of public transport at the moment was of
concern although issues with the rail services from the Valleys was beyond their
control but the reinstatement of the bus service from the Central Station was a
plus. It was agreed that the club's work in the community was important,
specifically schools. A supporter rep mentioned an opportunity at Llanishen High
School for players to be involved and Amy James undertook to look into the
matter.

The positive news of the insurance settlement was welcomed. He mentioned the
lengthy negotiations that Ken Choo had undertaken the outcome of which will
remain confidential.

Phillip Jenkins confirmed that the provision in the balance sheet had been utilised
to cover the payment in full of the Sala transfer fee. He also confirmed that the
insurance settlement sum had been received. As a consequence of the
application of the balance sheet provision to offset the Sala transfer fee the
insurance settlement was "bunce money". When asked if any of it would be
available to strengthen the team in January, Mehmet carefully responded that due
consideration would be given to ensure compliance with profit and sustainability
before making any such decision. However, he did say that the club had tried to
sign a player this week but there were some legal issues that could not be
overcome.

Mehmet was asked about the latest situation regarding the Nantes litigation. He
commented that it was ongoing but thought that he might be in a position to
provide a further update nearer Christmas.

Mehmet was asked about players out on loan and whether their progress was
being tracked as there was a suggestion that some of them may not be getting
the game time that the club might like. He stated that he would get the Academy
Manager to review the situation.

Interesting that we tried to sign a new player this week that was stopped by legal issues.

They have another meeting Tues.

Based in comments on this forum back in Aug / early Sept, if people want to raise stewarding and seating issues in the Ninian, they should drop them an email so they can raise it.

Unfortunately it seems all focus is on the 1st team. Maybe it would be beneficial if somebody from the supporters side asked how much longer the U21’s are going to be in the position they are and when the club will say enough is enough and replace Purse as if it was the 1st team he’d have been sacked last season. These are the lads that the club are hoping are the future 1st team contenders

Meeting Tuesday is my quarterly SLO meeting with the supporters groups, and fans who arrange travel to games home and away, although I would love some fans to come along if they have any issues to bring up or just want to come along to hear about recent matches or games coming up. Please get in touch if you want to come. The Foundation head will be in attendance to update us on that , last meeting Steve Borley attended, we always try to get heads of departments there to explain their roles.

On the weekend Mehmet Dalman asked very late if he could meet with a small number of fan reps pre match to catch up, not a minute meeting with notes ,although the Trust like to keep their members informed, just a casual talk about how the club has been doing this last few weeks. The Under 21 were mentioned but the general feeling was that the squad is not always at strength due to Under 18's playing in it etc and the results are not the main priority, they are looking to develop players from there to get into the first team and we seen that at Blackburn away, they will always lose their best players like Charlie Crew to bigger clubs due to the system in place but fully understand the need to produce our own players.

With regards to fan engagement and the governments commitment to the fan lad review, you will all see changes. We are waiting for board approval and in Tuesdays meeting we hope to explain more about this.

Andros Townsend was linked with us recently but that's not to say he was the player concerned... :ayatollah:
