I was about 17 at the time and i worked in the Crest Hotel Hambrook Bristol as a Hotel Porter  i got into so much mischief there but that's another story and a half   but any way the Scottish squad was staying at our hotel.
I was working the Evening shift , when i was told by Jock Stein and one of the coaches that no way was any food or drink to be taken to there rooms without there permission. :D

I had this massive order for about 50 rounds of sandwiches for one room which i thought either Cyrill Smith was staying there or it was for those greedy jocks, so with total disregard of MR Steins wishes off i went with these sandwiches and i got halfway down the corridor when one door opened then it seemed a dozen doors opened and next thing i was mugged by these mad jocks and within seconds i was left with one half eaten sandwich on the platter plate.

I then had a call for two double Whiskeys for one room now i knew it was a players room and when i got there a certain David Speedy was waiting and gave me a quid tip, which was quite a lot back then. I must of done that run for him four or five times   I thought i was doing my bit for Wales

Two players Graham Souness and there goalkeeper i think it was Leighton or Rough i cant remember his name of my head but they wasn't playing either threw suspension or injury but these two clowns were pissed out of there heads. And souness had a Porno mag running up and down the corridor in his underpants, it was funny as feck and i swear on my little boys life this is a true story

Just before my shift ended Jock Stein had locked himself out of his room and i let him back in, not before telling him i'll only let him in if he lets Wales win. Always remember the smile he gave me as if to say cheeky tw*t.

As for the game the atmosphere ,it was one of the best i have ever been in, and as for Speedy my plan didn't work as he was involved in that penalty either he was the one who struck the ball for the handball, or scored the Pen again i cant remember now. Also on the night before the game the Night Porter who was Scottish nearly got the sack by coming into work pissed up wearing a kilt and making a right cock of himself in the foyer. He got sent home i pissed myself at that.
