Wintle

Is he the weakest link in our midfield? Siopsis and Ralls seem to clearly know and perform their jobs. I can't see what Wintle adds recently, and if we play all 3, then we have to be dominating and not carved open at will (as we were yesterday. If it wasn't for a world class NG tackle and some horrible finisning, it could have been more).

I like Wintle. When he purrs, we purr... but he seems to be unchallenged for his shirt when a clear improvement of Siopsis has been highlighted and delivered.

I'd love to see someone with more creativity come into the team for Wintle, with Ralls & Siopsis holding and doing the graft.

Before the positivity police come at me, this is my opinion only, will happily eat humble pie if/when Wintle starts having more of an impact at either end of the park. :D

He's definitely not a 10 and seems to be given that role to try press from the front. He's way more comfortable orchestrating from the back

He’s great sitting in front of the defence in a midfield 3, breaking up play and recycling the ball.

Not so great in a 2 man midfield and playing transitions and being up and down the pitch.

Non existent in the 10.

Honestly I was a bit surprised at the time that he got a new 3 year deal to be honest, even more surprised now that we have Siopis.

Wintle starts on the bench tonight...

I said it the other day Wintle for me is our weakest link and we looked so much stronger tonight.

Annis

Hopefully Bulut is beginning to see what has been apparent for a few seasons now that starting Ralls and Wintle together in midfield does not work.

Quite happy for Wintle to replace Ralls towards the end of the game like yesterday but for me out of the two I'd start Ralls and keep Wintle on the bench.

i am totally the opposite, in the 4231, alongside Siopis, i think Wintle is fantastic, and i think Ralls is our weak link, i feel defensively hes often out of positon, losing his man and then goes hiding.

The answer is to keep CR47 in the team with Synopsis and Rallsy sitting behind him.

That's my synopsis anyway :-)

Wintle is not good enough

I think if siopis is not fit then wintle slips in..can't play together though.. stepping on each others toes

I remember Joe Dwyer playing as a stop gap striker in his time for us.Full of guts and really put himself about for us but he was no striker. He never got any stick off the fans because we knew he's was trying his best for us even though he was like a square peg in a round hole.Similarly Wintle has had to play in a position that he is not used to and it shows but fair play to him you can't fault his attitude or his commitment to the club.I think he will do his bit for the club when he gets the chance a a position more suited to his talents.(holding)

I don't think he is a weak link. He's not a 10. But I also don't think he's as good as ralls. He doesn't have ralls's range of passing or composure however he's not a million miles away. Due to previous recruitment though we have a glut of similar midfielders, all if which are kept out by ralls imho, while being thin on reliable consistent Ramsey replacements and any sort of siopis replacements.

I think he is weak link, been giving the ball away far too often lately need a new midfielder in Jan. Need an upgrade on Wintle

Don’t he’s being played in his best position of infront of back 4 where he can break up play etc….decent player who doesn’t seem to suit a pressing game .
He will do a good job against the better teams who put us under a lot of pressure

Got to agree with that. Unfortunately for him, Siopis is much better at that role.

Ralls is not getting younger and will have injuries, so I think Wintle's role will be to cover for him.

My view that Wintle is a steady central defensive midfield player who is currently essential in our current squad.
I was not happy with him playing as a number 10. I would always chose Robinson or even Colwill ahead of him in that position when Ramsey is injured.
However, he always gives 100% in my eyes, so I have no reason to criticise the lad.

He was excellent when he came on today - was everywhere, harrying and hassling, passed well too.
