Pearson felt his side were their own worst enemy at times during a Severnside derby admittedly low on quality at both ends for much of the afternoon.

"It's a competitive league," he added. "What it shows you is that if you don't make enough good decisions on the pitch, then sides will turn you over. It's a very tough league to be successful in. When you've got a very young inexperienced team and bench then it's going to be difficult.

After Leicester’s loss to Chelsea Nigel Pearson became embroiled in an argument with reporter Ian Baker, ending in the manager storming out having called Baker an ostrich. Read the transcript in full below:

Nigel Pearson The bottom line is what has given us a chance to survive has been the collective spirit we have. NP Have you been on holiday for six months? Have you been away for six months?

IB No, I am just not quite sure what specific criticism you are referring to?

NP I think you must have either your head in the clouds, or been away on holiday, or reporting on a different team, because if you don’t know the answer to that question . . your question is absolutely unbelievable, the fact you do not understand where I am coming from. If you don’t know the answer to that question then I think you are an ostrich. Your head must be in the sand. Is your head in the sand? Are you flexible enough to get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be no.

IB Probably not.

May not have outplayed you but outscored you by two goals to none.

If we're so poor what does that make you and your team when we beat you comfortably?

What an odious prick this bloke is.

What a load of bollox.

Starting from the back we have a safe keeper who does what he needs to, in a no frills way, when needed.

Our defence is solid and, in my opinion, one of the best in this division. Even when they attacked I felt confident that we wouldn't concede - and I say that despite having £40 going on to a correct score 2-1 win.

In attack we have players who can score from all over the pitch.

We are so much better than the worzels and the result showed that

Thought Bristol c ,were the poorest team I've seen this year, with the help of some questionable refereeing.

He's salty as they lost in the week and now have lost the derby, so a distraction comment to try to placate the fans which often indicates trying to mask deeper problems. He's been there for a while and I'm sure I read a comment this week where they don't see him as ever getting them above mid table.
