" The teams we've played so far "

Mon Nov 06, 2023 3:09 pm

With 14 games of the season gone, we are in a good place. Just one position and one point off the play-offs.

But how good are the teams we've played?

We have played six of the other eleven teams who are currently in the top half, five of those games have been away - including against each of the top three. By 2nd December we will have played three more who are in the top half, with two of those away.

Of those six games, we have picked up seven points. Four points away and three points at home.

We have also played each of the bottom five, four of those being at home. We won four of those five games.

We have played three other teams in the bottom half with two at home and one away - picking up five points.

So although we have played teams who are struggling, we have also already played most of the better teams in the division away.

We don't have to worry about going to Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds later in the season. In fact, we will feel we should have got more from those games.

We are likely to strengthen the team in January with Aaron Ramsey and Callum O'Dowda to come back from injury as well.

There is plenty to be positive about. If we can stay close to the top six going into the new year, and with some good additions in January, we will be in with a chance of making the top six.

Agree completely.
What a nice change it makes!
We could’ve collected more points but I think we’re a much better organised team than we were at the start of the season.
Good vibes, long may it continue.

Problem with this sort of analysis Ned is when we play then whoever they are next they could be a totally different team.

For a while under Bulut, we didn't really know whether we were relegation fodder or a mid-table team. Not many would have seen us as play-off contenders. But that's now become a a realistic possibility. Looking forward to the rest of the season, whatever happens, because we are playing some good football.

Yes played the top 3 all away, we conceded late goals against Leeds and Leicester, and let a 2-0 lead slip at Ipswich. Not criticising, just pointing out how close we were to having a few more points on the board. Happy so far. :bluescarf:

Great analysis. Table is starting to take shape.

All positive stuff there.

We are only ever two losses away from the fans having a pop let’s be honest. Thankfully we have sensible posts like this to show the strides we are making.

Yes it's great to have those games out of the way, we will stand a much better chance of beating the top half teams at home and we have improved and are now much harder to beat. O'Dowda and Ramsey will add so much, we will get more chances and goals when they are added to the first team, and Bukut will be looking for the goal scoring Striker we've needed for years in January.

It is great news and a very positive start, I look forward to the rest of the season :ayatollah:
