A disappointing and at times frustrating performance

Sat Nov 11, 2023 8:25 pm

Cardiff 2-3 Norwich.

A disappointing and at times frustrating performance today, but also a massive reality check which often happens at this level in the Championship.

Norwich hadn’t won in their last 6 league games but I had a feeling today we’d lose, despite going in 2-1 up at half time. It’s easy to criticise certain players in defensive positions but if we’d also taken our chances up the other end of the pitch with the score at 2-1 then there’d probably have been a different outcome.

Preston away next in a couple of weeks time after the international break and a chance for Erol Bulut to get the squad back firing again. It’s never easy and we often make it hard for ourselves but a lesson learned today and we move on Bluebirds

I am disappointed we lost the game if we drew then fair enough but to lose I was gutted as I cannot see us getting anything at Preston

What disappointed me most today was that a team who'd lost five of their last six games and with a manager under severe pressure wanted it so much more than our team who could have got back into the top six with a win.

In fairness to the players they've been very good most of the season but today for some reason there were too many who seemed unwilling to put in the effort needed which was really disappointing after doing enough to be leading 2-1 at half time.

All down to the manager for me
he did not have them fired up thats why we went down to the 1st goal
but we did manage to come back into it
but 2nd half started the same as the first
we did not go for the next goal to be scored
and with grant missing chance of the season as he tried adjusting his feet in deciding which foot to shoot with
but f.ck.d up
a complety ease goal that my mum could have put away or nearly
and with norwich pushing on the left exploting ng absence
I do agree that tanner needs another rocket from bulut he's gone of the boil and grant for all his running is not chipping in with anything meaningful ie
Goals but letting 2 goals in a minute is shocking and sitting back on the lead.

I think the subs made the difference for them and we probably left it a bit to late in ours, they had momentum. They exploited romeos lack of game time and bowler was lacking in helping to cover, I would have brought on wintle for Robinson pushed him over on right for extra cover and kept ralls on. But don't forget a reasonable player with legs is better than a good player without and maybe collwill for meite. Can never understand why everyone has to defend a corner leave a quick player up they have to leave two back. Watch the highlights and we definitely had a case for a penalty and grant chance was more difficult than it looked two Norwich players getting back very quickly and one even made it to line of shot.
