Cardiff street renamed after Bluebirds legend

A street near Cardiff City Stadium has been renamed in honour of legendary former Bluebird Phil 'Joe' Dwyer.

The Cardiff-born defender is a bona fide, all-time legend among City supporters, having played a whopping 575 times for the Bluebirds, second only to Billy Hardy, and he sadly past away two years ago at the age of 68.

A huge banner of Dwyer, who also had 10 caps for Wales between 1978 and 1979, is on display at the top of the red stand at Cardiff City Stadium, but the club have lobbied to ensure his memory is honoured in a more tangible way, by renaming a street after him.

Clos Parc Morgannwg has now been renamed Clos Phil Dwyer in a permanent tribute to the defender's Bluebirds legacy. The street is found roughly between the Ninian Stand and Family Stand side of the ground and leads to the car park for the away end.

Just read that and it's a nice touch. Here's a map of where it is, the HoS is on the street for those familiar with that.
