Huge Bluebirds fan Joe Cordina wants his next fight to be at Cardiff City Stadium.

The 31-year-old successfully defended his IBF super-featherweight title against Edward Vazquez in Monte Carlo and has said he is open to taking on WBA featherweight champion Leigh Wood. However, WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete and WBC belt holder O'Shaquie Foster are also in the mix.

Speaking about the venue for his next bout, he told the BBC: "It would be amazing. When I got into boxing, the first thing I wanted to do was to fight at the Millennium [Principality] Stadium - because [Joe] Calzaghe boxed there - but to fight at the home of the team I support, what more do you want?

"If I don't do that before I retire it'll absolutely kill me but I'm just going to push until we get to that. I've got a big following anyway, but with the Cardiff City Stadium I would need the right dancing partner and Leigh Wood is the right dancing partner for that. That would sell."

WHAT CROWD WOULD JOE GET?

Hope him and his team can make it happen.

A bit surprised he wasn’t presented to the crowd on Saturday. That normally happens at CCS when he wins a fight, which he did recently.

It’s so sad that injuries have blighted his career.

He’s an absolute beast at his weight division and had he been injury free would be a household name in Wales like Joe Calzaghe.

Hopefully there will still be time as he is 31 but hasn’t really been in any wars so the next couple of years could be quite big. At the moment I don’t think most would know who he was at the City and he wouldn’t sell out CCS but hopefully that will come.

I only ever hear good things about Joe.
