Everton deducted 10 points for breach of Premier League rules
Sean Dyche's Everton have been plunged into the relegation zone
Everton have been deducted 10 points after being found guilty of breaching the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.
The news comes as a devastating blow to manager Sean Dyche and it will leave the Toffees joint-bottom of the table with four points, ahead of Burnley only on goal difference.
A statement from the Premier League read: "An independent commission has imposed an immediate deduction of 10 points on Everton for a breach of the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules [PSRs].
"The Premier League issued a complaint against the club and referred the case to an independent commission earlier this year.
"During the proceedings, the club admitted it was in breach of the PSRs for the period ending season 2021-22 but the extent of the breach remained in dispute.
"Following a five-day hearing last month, the commission determined that Everton's PSR calculation for the relevant period resulted in a loss of £124.5million, as contended by the Premier League, which exceeded the threshold of £105m permitted under the PSRs.
"The commission concluded that a sporting sanction in the form of a 10-point deduction should be imposed. That sanction has immediate effect."

Questions will rightly be asked what is happening with similar cases against Chelsea and Manchester City.
Everton had one charge and have a ten point deduction. Manchester City have 115 charges against them so would surely be faced with relegation?

Absolutely, Ned...
Interesting times ahead...

Everton, as a club deserve the points deduction if they have broken the rules, but I can't help having sympathy with their loyal fans as this is a massive blow for them.
I think the multiple rule break by Man City was announced about nine months ago. (115 breaches in total)
How much longer before a decision is made on that club?
They seem so certain they've made no breaches in the financial rules, but I'm sure we'd all like to know if they are guilty or innocent, especially as they continue to pick up major trophies.

The Guardian have been onto Man City for over a decade apparenty the owners threatened PL with litigation and would drag it through the courts for decades, they have the money.

Everton will stay up though. There's at least 3 teams worse than them in the Prem.
If it was a larger points deduction they may have had an issue but that isn't insurmountable.

On the one hand clubs like Reading and Wigan would be furious if Everton were not treated the same way but, on the converse side, I really do think this has now opened up a massive can of worms in respect to Chelsea and Man City and the position, in world football, of the Premier League in general.

Man city will get away with it. They rake too much money to the prem and it is a big asset regardless of the issues its faced.

I expect nothing to happen to the likes of Chelsea and Man City.
#if this happens then expect the outlash to be high with the authorities having to sit it out.

Something needs to be done to both Man City and Chelsea - If they have broken these rules .
Southampton : Leeds : and Leicester are going to have their say as a result of All 3 going down last season .
