Rob Page after an awful match and draw away to Armenia.

Rob Page:

“It’s unfortunately it’s now out of our hand to qualify, but that’s life.”

“It would of been good to have gone in to Tuesday’s match v Turkey knowing a win would if guaranteed us qualification, but that’s out of our hands.”

Rob Page:

Armenia 1 Wales 1

Page: “ We are all disappointed “

Rob Page:

“We got off to the worst possible start, conceding a goal after four minutes," he said when assessing the contest. "We knew they were going to come out the traps fast. I'm disappointed with that. I thought we grew in the first half. I thought we scored at the perfect time.

"But the break came at a bad time for us because I thought we were growing in momentum. Having said that with the two 10s we had on the pitch in David Brooks and Harry Wilson. We didn't find them enough as well as they did. They had opportunities to get their 10s on the pitch and cause more of a threat.”

"We're all disappointed. But we threw everything at it towards the end. I think we got into some OK positions. Whether it was that final pass or that final ball or final detail at the end, it wasn't quite right for us at the end for whatever reason.

"There's a disappointed group in there but we've got to pick ourselves up because we want to finish on a high now on Tuesday."

Commenting on his side's qualification hopes, Page added: "Unfortunately it's now out of our control. A win here tonight and we would have been all buzzing for the game on Tuesday.

"It's not materialised as we would have liked, but that's life. We have to get on with it. It's about building momentum now. If it's a play-off in March, it's a play-off in March.

"For now we can only control what we can do. It's about getting these players into a right frame of mind. Physically, mentally, and ready to go again on Tuesday."

The result has arguably further cemented Armenia's status as a bogey team for Wales, who are yet to beat them in their last four attempts. Page was actually part of the squad that played in Yerevan the last time Wales were here in 2001, and believes Armenia's class of 23' bear striking similarities with his own current team, which he claims makes the all more difficult to play against.

However, Page insists the inability to draw out the best from his attacking arsenal was the central factor in failing to get a result this time around. "I think they do play a similar way," he added. "Two attacking midfielders. two athletic sixes. One that plays like a 10 and gets forward and gets runs in the box. They play to their strengths.“

"He's got a way of playing that gets the best out of his players. We did really well against Croatia and for whatever reason tonight we struggled.”

"We knew it was going to be a tough game. They showed their intent in June. We had a game plan. When you've got players like Harry Wilson and David Brooks on the back of a wonderful performance against Croatia, we wanted to do that again and we just couldn't get them on the ball.

"We knew the space on the sides was an area that was more for Brennan and DJ, so the first opportunity we had in the second half we brought Brennan on. But again it was that final pass, or run that wasn't quite there for us."

Good bye Page, thank you for your efforts, but simply not good enough.

Whatever this guy says it is not appreciated.

I just feel the excuses have worn out and no one sees how we are going to overcome this with Page at the helm. For me the Welsh FA need to make a big decision, do we keep Page at the helm in the hope we get through via the play offs or do we go for a fresh face.

The match against Croatia is the exception to the rule under Page,We should be playing at or close to that level so what can you do to change it.

100 percent.
The players are capable of way more than they showed last night.
Clearly something isn't right tactically, I just don't think he has the ability to see past going out not to concede. Almost as bad as Mick's 5 cbs

Noel Mooney and the FAW board need a thorough search on who should be a new manager who can take this team forward and not just because they are welsh either (Nathan Jones wouldnt fill me with confidence)

Let’s be honest Not so long ago rob page was everybody hero yes he inherited the team from Ryan Giggs in not so great circumstances rob page has worked hard for wales we may as well stick with him until we see this campaign through I understand a lot of fans would like oasin Roberts in the job and he should have got the job originally but he decided to leave because he didn’t get the job but the welsh fa should have begged him to stay they let Martin margeston go he’s now with England if you want to keep the best you got to stump up the money maybe the present back room staff are not good enough and they all work with the players so maybe they are not getting the best out of them but unfortunately the buck stops with rob page

Nah mate , not everyone was happy with him at the start , he’s been shit since he started , we qualified for world cup by a fluke , the football has been really bad ever since he took over from giggs , and I’ve said from the start that I couldn’t believe they offered him that long contract , he’s a nice guy but shockingly shit as a manager

Rob Page not taking responsibility and just saying That’s Life, maybe he should continue saying that…. Hopefully his new career in a few weeks will be his Frank Sinatra impression.

Richy roofer ccfc

Completly agree i have not wanted from the start either
our performance in the world cup was shocking letting bale play when he had'nt trained apart from walking around a golf course in the usa appointing gunter jobs for the boys the tactics against england and his idea that we played well in the 1st half we held them for the 1st 45 mins? that was the last straw for me because we never went over the half way line
The bloke should not be anywhere near a professional team and he has a habit with his comments
of winding up fans even more imo the worse manger for wales since Bobby gould.

Never been a fan of page. It’s the same old every time, cannot make adjustments in-game - which was very evident in the tournament games.

Also, “that’s life”, is not a good attitude towards our failings. It’s our of our hands because we made it so.

Yes monty :thumbright: , totally agree , he is deffo on Bobby Gould level ,
We could of had a great World Cup if we had someone who knew how to manage the team .
Surely he’s going to be sacked
And yes his comments are amateur

When are the Euro 2024 playoffs? Fixture dates, how it works
The Euro 2024 playoffs take place in March 2024. Twelve teams will take part.

There will be six semifinals, all held on March 21, 2024, and then three finals held on March 26. All games are one-off, single-legged affairs.

The six semifinals will be split into three sections — Path A, Path B and Path C — with two games in each and a separate draw to determine which semifinal winner will host that path's final. The teams in each path are seeded based on their UEFA Nations League ranking, with the top seed facing the fourth seed, and second facing third.

The winners of the three finals will be added to the final lineup for Euro 2024.
