“ Wales get what they wanted “

Thu Nov 23, 2023 11:49 am

Wales will face FInland at home in their play-off semi-final as they bid to make it to Euro 2024. The draw took place on Thursday (November 23) in Nyon, Switzerland. The winner of that game will play either Poland or Estonia.

Rob Page's side fell short in the final two fixtures, managing only draws against Armenia and Turkey, with Croatia usurping them with two convincing wins in their own matches. It means Turkey and Croatia qualified from Group D, with Wales now relying on the play-off route to get to Germany next year.

It is a familiar feeling for Page and Co, who had to get past both Austria and Ukraine in the World Cup play-offs last year. Without Gareth Bale this time, though, they will have to conjure up another two victories next March if they are to make it to their third European Championships in a row.
