Geographically these teams have not that far to travel and the rail services are on a different stratosphere to our own TfL.
Joff,
I disagree, I remember Wigan use to take 20 fans away . They have to go to Manchester then get a straight train or Liverpool.
Plus the roads are busy, then get across London.
Little Stockport all the way to Newport.
Morecambe get barely 1,500 home fans, fantastic away support.
Blackpool all the way to Portsmouth.
Charlton all the way to Carlisle 12 hr round trip , 640 mile rd trip, Nearly 1,000 Away fans.
Plus We have FANS in North Wales and all over the North off England, We are Championship with 22,000 home crowds and doing really well.

Or just pay on the day at £24 like many did
AND £8 for U18’s and £2 for U11’s.
Way way cheaper than your trying to say, but plus you never answered my questions?
Also clubs like Carlisle and Stockport etc are very small and poor, yet they seem to get to these clubs a long way way .
Maybe you will now say they all go free lol
In the Premiership first season our fans paid £50 plus to get in to away games, sold out every time.
Plus We are very lucky to have fans up North like these.

It was just the back of a fag packet calculation, and the train fare used was for a Friday.
Either way, it’s extremely expensive, especially if you have a family ( most families don’t want to be away from their kids for 15 hours on a weekend which probably means they don’t get to see them )
800 to Preston in November for what is essentially a mid table team ( if they had lost Saturday they would have been 12th) isn’t that bad.
I’m sure if we had a load of new grounds to visit the figures may improve. What is important is that the home support of around 22,000 is excellent and that’s what counts.
Away support usually doesn’t have any impact on the result ( take Sheffield Wednesday as an example)

If we were in the Premiership all that goes out the window a fact.
Wow then Boro going to Exeter in midweek then Plymouth on a Saturday, both games sold out , how the hell did their fans do it? from a very low wage area and most Boro fans come from Boro, not like us all over South Wales and beyond.
Explain these small clubs?
League 1:
Fair play to Charlton’s, Wigans, Blackpool’s Away Support on such long journeys in League 1 (Div 3).
Wigan, 1,115 Away Support Wow

I’m sure if we were in the Premier League the floaters would return and would no doubt make a big impact on the away support. People would probably realign their own finances for the sake of Premier League success.
