The Under 21 set up need to be re looked urgently. We are going backwards with Darren Purse. The style of football has not been the best and the players being sent to non league clubs are not benefitting their development.

I would be expecting players to be sent out on loan to at least league one or two. At the same time, these players should be pushing for first team football, especially at the age of 18 and 19. If there no signs of this, I would simply release the players.

Bulut and the hierarchy need to look at this urgently.

What a game by the sound of it.

But we were 3-1 up and then 4-2 up at one point so disappointing they dropped two points.

Means our U21s have only won one of the last seven games.

Still convinced that Purse is not the right person for the job.

Didn’t Charlton beat us 5-4 when we went up to the Premier?

Was at that game at The Valley.

We went 2-0 up really early on, they then went on to lead 5-2. We got two very late goals to make it 5-4.

That was a crazy night down there.

was at an event last night with Darren talking to Cardiff fans, genuinely lovely bloke and he spoke about some of the issues facing the u23s league i think it is.

regards to loans, he said so because its "Wales to England" loans they're classed differently to normal loans, so clubs cannot have a player for 3 months, it is a minimum of 6 month only, the club do approach league clubs, but their attitude is, we don't want to have to have a player in for 6 months that hasn't got first team experience in men's football. he used Tom Davies as an example, saying he went to the Welsh league last year, had a few games of first team football against men, and Kilmarnock said, they were willing to take him in on loan this year because of it.

he also said about he could have a team set for the weekend to play, and then 3 or 4 players are called up to train with the first team and won't be available, the under 23s train in the same place as the first team, but the under 18s and lower train elsewhere, so he has to get referrals regarding who's training well.

he did say his remit by the club isn't results based, its development but the issue he is facing he said is some players are being challenged enough by playing under 23s, they need that next step to really push on and develop but its hard getting clubs to take them on. did say you could have 18-20 players, and maybe 2 of them go on and really develop break into a first team where as others might make a career in the game lower down.

really changed my view and perception on how i view the academy players to be honest.
