Star linked in position which Erol Bulut says Bluebirds 'don't have enough players'

The Bluebirds are in the market to bolster their defence in the new year, with only three senior centre backs — Mark McGuinness, Dimitrios Goutas and Jonathan Panzo — currently on the roster.
Erol Bulut has already stated his intention to try to sign four players in the winter window, with a striker, midfielder and left-back thought to be on the cards. But centre-back would certainly be an area the Bluebirds boss is looking to address.
And TEAMtalk suggest Hegazi, who plays at Al-Ittihad Saudi Club, could be the answer. Quite whether he fits the profile, however, is questionable. He has also been injured with an ACL injury in recent months which required surgery, so it seems unlikely at time of writing.
Bulut this afternoon, however, did concede that Cardiff don't have enough players in that area and is likely to target it in January.
“In that position, we don’t have enough players," Bulut said today. "We took Panzo so he had a few friendly matches but he wasn’t fit enough to use him. He’s getting better but still we have a small issue with the centre-back position. One player being unavailable means I have to make a few changes.”
The report states that Boro, Cardiff as well as Premier League duo Sheffield United and Burnley are monitoring the situation of the defender, who appears to fallen out of favour at the Saudi top-flight side, having been there for more than three years.
Supporters on these shores will know the 32-year-old from his time with West Brom between 2017 and 2021.
