Hull City have been handed a major injury blow ahead of the Christmas fixtures.

Key winger Jaden Philogene is unlikely to return to action until 2024, with The Athletic claiming the attacker could be out for "four to six weeks" after suffering a knee injury.

Hull City are due to face Middlesbrough this week and then face Championship clashes against Cardiff City, Bristol City and Sunderland towards the back end of the year with Philogene likely to miss the game against the Black Cats on Boxing Day.

The £5million summer signing from Premier League club Aston Villa was sent for a scan on Monday and now it appears he will be ruled out of the busy festive period. The news will come as a blow to head coach Liam Rosenior

I must have watched a different game because I had to double check a few times that he was actually on the pitch and even said so in the match thread. Admittedly I may have missed all this excellent stuff he supposedly did because watching my kettle boil was more exciting than watching the game.

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has said Jason Lokilo will ‘probably’ miss this weekend’s game.
Hull City are back in Championship action with a home clash against Cardiff City.

Lokilo, 25, has picked up another injury and is poised to sit out on Saturday. However, he could return against Bristol City on Friday 22nd December.

Rosenior has provided this update regarding the winger and his teammate Jaden Philogene, as per a report by HullLive: “We are probably looking at six weeks with Jaden, which is a big miss, but it’s something we are going to have to solve as a group. With Jason, he will probably just miss out for Saturday but should be fit for Bristol City.”

Liam Rosenior left 'devastated' as Hull City loanee suffers yet another injury blow -

Left-sided defender Ruben Vinagre picked up a hamstring injury in Hull City's win at Middlesbrough

Hull City defender Ruben Vinagre has suffered yet another injury setback. The attacking full-back faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a recurrence of the hamstring injury that kept him earlier in the campaign.

The 24-year-old, on loan from Sporting Lisbon, sustained the knock after coming on as a second half substitute in the Tigers' midweek victory at Middlesbrough. "Ruben has, unfortunately, suffered a recurrence of his hamstring," boss Liam Rosenior told Hull Live. "We got him scanned and it looks like he's going to be out for a prolonged period of time.

Rosenior said midfielder Adam Traore is "touch and go" to face Cardiff City tomorrow. The Tigers head coach said: "Adama made an unbelievable tackle against Middlesbrough at a massive time in the game but he got trod on his knee so is feeling a bit sore today so he is a doubt."

Wide men Jaden Philogene (knee) and Jason Lokilo (hamstring) remain unavailable for selection. Rosenior remains hopeful Lokilo will be available for selection when City head to Bristol City next week.

Hull City Manager:

Injuries

A few will miss the game. Adama (Traoré), who probably made the best tackle on Wednesday, was trod on his knee by accident in that tackle. It is sore so it is touch and go with him. He could make the bench, but he definitely won’t start.
Jason (Lokilo) will be out. We will assess him for Bristol City. Allahyar (Sayyadmanesh) trained today, but he hasn’t trained for a long time so we will have to see how he is for Bristol City, but he won’t be included for tomorrow. For example, Regan (Slater); I have to make a decision on him. He has been out for two and a half months, come back and put in an incredible shift in a high intensity game recently. Does he start again for me on Saturday?

I have to look at the bigger picture with team selection and I want Regan on the pitch as he is a massive part of what we do, but at the same time it has to be right for him and for the season.

I hope I’m wrong, and the lads can get a result.
However, all I can see today is a comfortable win for Hull.

Almost complete dominance from Hull
thus far, but it remains 0-0. It would be fair to say Cardiff are getting close to the Tigers judging by the amount of fouls given so far by Keith Stroud.

Although we are soaking up constant pressure from home team early doors you can see we are playing higher up the pitch because Alnwick is back, I feel we can nip it, Colwill just showed
