Sending best wishes to Tom Lockyer.
He has collapsed in Luton’s game at Bournemouth, and the match has been suspended for now with the referee sending the players back to the dressing room.
This is the second time this has happened to Tom Lockyer, he also collapsed in the Championship play-off final.

Good news as Tom Lockyer is alert and responsive.

Yes share those sentiments and hope he recovers. I hope he also decides to retire for the sake of his family and friends.
The Cardiff game pales into insignificance when something like this happens

Safer for him to retire. There is obviously something seriously wrong.

The match referee, Simon Hooper has (rightly in my opinion) decided to abandon the game.

Get well soon, Tom! Worrying.

Luton have confirmed that Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest.
He is in hospital with his family and is responsive.
He will continue to receive treatment in hospital.

Rotten luck for Tom.
Worked so hard throughout his career, to get to where he is.
Had the cardiac arrest in the summer, had surgery and given all clear, then this happens again!
Hope for both himself, and his loved ones sake, he calls it a day.
Best of luck Tom!

I'm surprised he was given the all-clear after the last one. To play in the Premiership requires a high degree of stamina and the pressure on the heart must be immense. I hope he's ok as I know what it's like to go through this, but not at that young an age. Possibly time to hang up his boots.

Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer is "stable" after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch during the abandoned Premier League match at Bournemouth, his club confirmed.
Both sets of players were taken off midway through the second half as Lockyer received medical treatment.
The 29-year-old was responsive as he was carried off on a stretcher to applause and taken to hospital.
Luton said Lockyer was "stable and currently undergoing further tests".
"Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain [Tom Lockyer] suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher," Luton said.
"He received further treatment inside the stadium, for which we once again thank the medical teams from both sides.
"Tom was transferred to hospital, where we can reassure supporters that he is stable and currently undergoing further tests with his family at his bedside."
Following confirmation the game was abandoned, both the Luton and Bournemouth players came back out on to the pitch to applaud the supporters, with Hatters manager Rob Edwards visibly emotional.
Lockyer collapsed during the play-off final win against Coventry in May before being taken to hospital.
He subsequently had heart surgery and was given the all-clear to return to playing in June.
The Premier League said in a statement: "The match between AFC Bournemouth and Luton Town FC has been abandoned due to a player medical incident.
"Our thoughts are with Tom Lockyer and all players involved in today's match."
Luton called for players, staff and supporters "to come together" in support of Lockyer and his family.
"We are sorry to all supporters present that players from both sides were in no state of mind to continue with the game after seeing their much-loved team-mate and friend taken off like that and staff could not carry on with managing the game in such circumstances," Luton said.
"We thank everyone for the wonderful applause and singing of Locks' [Lockyer's] name inside the stadium at such a difficult time."
Bournemouth responded to Luton's update on Lockyer's condition, saying: "We're relieved to hear Tom is responsive."
The club added: "Our thoughts will continue to be with Tom and his family at this time. We'd like to thank all the medical staff for their quick action as well as everyone inside the stadium for their support and unity during a difficult moment."

From what i understand he did not have a cardiac arrest in the summer, it was a heart problem, but not a cardiac arrest

I hope this is taken in the correct way. But after his tests are completed. I truly hope someone is physically able to have a conversation with him to say iys best he retires. Because it will mean he is alive to have that conversation.
Get well soon Tom

Yeah, I think the doctors will advise him to retire now.
It’s obviously a shame and will be a huge disappointment for him, but it’s in the best interests of him and his family.
I am sure Luton will keep him on in some sort of capacity.

Correct; he had an irregular heart beat that was dealt with after his collapse during the Play-off Final...
Ultimately, we can only wish Cardiff-born Tom Lockyer a full and speefy recovery and a return to the game he loves and plays so well...!

He was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, which I also have, and can be brought on by excessive exercise. Generally the treatment is by beta-blockers or other medication. There is always a risk of further heart problems with this condition, which is why I am surprised he carried on playing.

He needs a defib inserted and will be right as rain.

A review into medical protocol is expected at Luton after captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch for the second time in seven months.
Lockyer, who suffered a heart issue during the Championship play-off final in May, was given the all-clear to return to football in June.
But Mail Sport understands that decision will now be reviewed once medical experts have further information on the cause of Saturday's incident at the Vitality Stadium in Luton's match against Bournemouth.
Lockyer, who has featured in 15 of his team's 16 Premier League games this season, suffered a cardiac arrest in the 59th minute and, after a delay of around 10 minutes, the 29-year-old was said to be 'alert' and 'responsive' as he was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital.
The match was subsequently abandoned, with both sets of players 'in no state of mind to continue'. Lockyer remained in hospital on Sunday in a stable condition, undergoing tests and scans.
A source close to the player said: 'This will be something we all look into more now. The physios, the club doctor, the specialists all did their work and worked with him in the summer and he was OK.
'It's just getting through this one test at a time. Comparing it to the summer will be something that happens when we know what went on on Saturday.'
The Premier League handbook states that players must undergo annual cardiac testing, with any further cardiac investigations or follow-ups performed as advised by expert opinion. It is unclear whether Lockyer underwent further testing since receiving heart surgery.
In June, Lockyer was treated by Professor Sanjay Sharma, the same doctor who treated Christian Eriksen after the Danish midfielder collapsed during a game in Copenhagen in June 2021.
Back then, Lockyer was diagnosed with an atrial fibrillation, a condition that causes an irregular and often fast heartbeat. He ended up watching Luton secure promotion to the Premier League from his hospital bed, surrounded by family.

While in hospital Lockyer had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator fitted, a device that is designed to shock the heart should a person enter cardiac arrest.

I think Christian Eriksen had the same thing fitted after what happened to him at the Euros.

We are thankful to report that our captain Tom Lockyer has now begun a period of rehabilitation from the comfort of his own home after he was discharged from hospital on Wednesday.
This encouraging news follows a successful procedure that took place on Tuesday whereby Tom had an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) device fitted to prevent a repeat of Saturday’s incident.
The Club, Tom and the Lockyer family would like to take this opportunity to repeat our collective heartfelt thanks to all at Bournemouth, their supporters, club officials and especially their medical staff and midfielder Philip Billing, who was the first to reach Tom on the pitch and summon assistance.
Supported by the actions of Bournemouth’s medical team and local paramedics, it was ultimately the protocols instilled and professional actions of our own medical staff that gave Tom this chance to recover and to whom we are thankful.
