No. Some small pains, some players have. Some players were sick, but everyone was at training today. Only Ng has a bit of pain in his ankle. He will speak to the doctor tomorrow and we will see. He trained today but felt a bit of pain. Tomorrow we will know more.

Erol Buluts Bluebirds have had a difficult time these last 8 games seeing them slide out of the play-offs and now 6pts behind with the football deteriorating match by match.

Cardiff are away to one of the worst sides in the Championship Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday.

Sheff Wednesday - recent revival?

They did well the last few games. They changed their playing style a little bit with the new manager. They analyse them and train for that this week. It will be a tough game. We had a good meeting at the start of the week with the players. We have to change some things. It looks good new and I hope it will be a new start for us.

Draw a line under last five games?

We had really good results, the team was going well. Maybe because of that result we were in the play-off positions, maybe it made the players more relaxed or comfortable. But we cannot feel comfortable until the end of the season.

We are good, but we have to stay that way. That’s why we had the meeting. The connections between the players on the field was not like how it was before, because communication was not like it was before. That’s why we didn’t have good results, we think.

What’s been the reason?




You are expecting high performances and sometimes you don’t get them. Some players are not like they were before so we have to rotate. But even sometimes the substitution players, when we put them in it doesn’t work.

We had that a bit in the last few games. Still, I can say the Birmingham game we could take more - at least a point. Norwich we could win. We see 22 games that we’ve played. Only against Hull City we have been not really performing well. Against Millwall also.

Has the way you played in last few weeks altered January planning?





No. I think we are still on course. I said a couple of days ago, 10 days ago, we want to be around the play-offs, but I also said that maybe I’m pushing for too much. This can be that the players take the pressure, but we have to now take the pressure off the players. We are still pushing, the players know that.

Now is the moment we have to make a new start, to win games and find our performance again.

How much can the transfer window give you a boost?






The transfer window, of course, every window is a way to put more quality players in the team to push for more or keep the level.

A lot is about finance, economics. Our chairman Mehmet Dalman is managing it well. I cannot speak a lot. I can speak about what type of players we need and how many we need to push and stay on that level for weeks.

Erol Bulut hints at plan to bring Cardiff City player back from loan as he clarifies Bakasetas situation

Erol Bulut has hinted at the prospect of recalling Joel Bagan from his loan spell in January.

The Bluebirds could be left with a big hole to fill in January when Jamilu Collins heads off to the Africa Cup of Nations, with Callum O'Dowda still not yet back to full fitness. Sign up to our Cardiff City newsletter here

Bagan, 22, has impressed with Belgian second-tier side SV Zulte Waragem, who are flying at the top of the table. Bagan has started nine of the 13 games for which he has been available for the Belgian second-tier club and was brought on in the other four. The word is he is progressing nicely and he needed a spell of regular game-time, which he is getting over there, albeit it is in an inferior division in the Belgian second tier.

And with money still expected to be tight in the new year, Bulut said the prospect of bringing Bagan back to bolster that left-back position is on the cards.

"I didn't watch them playing but I always get news about those guys," he said. "(Isaak) Davies is doing well in Kortrijk, he scored a few goals, he is playing as a striker.

"Bagan is doing really well in Zulte Waragem. It looks like they will get promoted and they are very happy with them. We are also happy he is showing this performance. Maybe in January we will have to see what we can do because JC, if he goes to the Africa Cup of Nations we don't have anyone in the left-back position. So maybe to call him back, we have to see.

The potential return of Bagan is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to January recruitment for Bulut. The Bluebirds boss wants anywhere between three and five new faces, although finances will definitely play a part.

Bulut practically ruled out a move for Anastasios Bakasetas a couple of weeks ago owing to the economics of any potential deal, but supporters were encouraged by an answer he gave at a fans' forum on Wednesday night and sought clarity. While he stopped short of saying City were in the running for his signature, he appeared to have cooled his stance on ruling out the signing all together.

"They [the fans] asked me which players I would see in the team, they said Bakasetas to me, of course he is one of those players!" Bulut said. "But the economics, if we can do it or not... it's not only Baka, it's a few other players. If you ask me about which players (I would want) I could give you quite a good list! That's not difficult.

"It's important (to ask), is it possible for Cardiff City? I don't know. We have many names on the list."

It's important for Bulut to be given the parameters within which he can work over the coming six weeks. He has a list of targets and needs to know how many are viable and where he can concentrate his efforts. At the time of writing, though, he doesn't know how much is available to him.

The offensive part, we need more players. Defensively we are quite OK. If we see our league we are in the top five defensively. Offensively we have to create more and score more. The start of the season was quite good but we are not so well now. We have to continue to work now. I hope we will get something in so it goes much better.

How important is squad rotation?






I think now it is important to not get injured players. This is most important. We see in the past, when we get injured players we get one or two from the main XI we have problems. Guys come in and try their best, but we have some issues. We have now four games until January, so we need all those players. Rotation will happen for sure. I expect all players to give their maximum until January 1.

Ryan Wintle was omitted from the squad for last weekend's defeat at Hull City but he was not injured. Wintle has donned the arm band for much of this season, with Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ralls missing so many games through injury, and has been a regular starter.

It was assumed that the midfielder's absence on Humberside was due to injury, but Bulut revealed he was simply not selected, which shrouds the situation in a bit of mystery.

"He didn't have an injury," the Bluebirds boss said. When asked if he was just not selected for the squad, Bulut replied: "Yes." However, no further explanation was added.


t does, though, look like he will be included in the squad to take on Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

"He is fit. He is now training well. No problems. It looks like he will be in the squad."

The Bluebirds have been generally solid at the back this season, with Mark McGuinness and Dimitrios Goutas forming a good partnership in central defence.

It has been at the other end of the pitch that has let them down somewhat and that’s been the problem every season.

The Turkish boss says that is where his focus will be in terms of recruitment.
