The Opposition's Manager

Marti Cifuentes was appointed QPR manager in October.

Since he took charge, they won three of their eleven games. All of those wins came consecutively in late November to early December. They have lost five of those games, with three draws.

He previously had spells in charge of clubs such as AaB and Hammarby.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Kenneth Paal has scored in two of his last three games against us.

Ilias Chair will be seen as an obvious threat, despite not having his best season. He has reached double figure is goal and assists in each of the last four seasons.

Head To Head

QPR beat us 2-1 at CCS in first home league game of the season.

That was one of three wins for them in the last five meetings. We have won just one of those games, which came at Loftus Road in the Championship in March 2022.

We lost at home to Leicester on Friday night.

On the same day, QPR drew away at Ipswich.

Thanks Chris, they are interesting stats.

We haven’t been good defensively for a while, but they’re not scoring.

I predict both to change but we’ll win 2-1.

Queens Park Rangers boss Martí Cifuentes reckons January could prove to be the turning point that his side desperately need ahead of their New Year’s Day clash with Cardiff City.

After holding promotion contenders Ipswich Town to a goalless draw earlier in the week, relegation-threatened QPR host Erol Bulut’s mid-table Cardiff at Loftus Road.

The Rs have failed to win in the Championship since the start of the month, but Cifuentes is optimistic that a run of home fixtures will propel them away from the drop zone.

He said: “We know we need to achieve eight, nine, ten victories, whatever it may be, as soon as possible.

“With the opportunity to play four at home, this will be massive for our situation.

“We want to take the confidence created from the level of performance against Ipswich into this game.

“We know every game is different and we need to be aware that football is very complex in the sense that there are a lot of factors, but how we played should give us a confidence boost to start the new year at home.

Agree, hope he doesn’t start.

Alnwick did well again on Friday despite the result.

Wintle turns an early ball over the top of the defence. Etete tries to get on the end of it but it's nodded back to Begovic.

Cardiff starting well

Cardiff seeing a lot of the ball early. It's a 4-5-1 by all accounts. Colwill on the left and Meite out on that right hand side.

Great sliding tackle from Ralls to win the ball in midfield, but the attack fizzles out as Etete loses possession.

Ng and Colwill break the lines with one lovely pass from the former to the latter. Colwill ships it out to Collins, whose cross is deflected and comes back off him for a home throw-in. Nice breakaway, that.
