Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman: “New players”

Fri Jan 05, 2024 3:42 pm

Mehmet Dalman:

Bringing in new players and the possibility of selling players if offered?

Don’t forget not bought / spent money on a new player for over 18 months.

A rather pressing aspect to all of this is the Financial Fair Play (FFP) considerations.

Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman has said the club's top priority in the January transfer window is to comply with profit and sustainability regulations as the Bluebirds look to build their squad for the back end of the season.

“We need to balance the books.”

Dalman said the club would need to chase money which it is owed in order to ensure they can work within the budgetary requirements stipulated by the league.

Mehmet stated that the club’s first priority was to remain compliant with profitability and sustainability.

"He stated that we are on budget to be compliant but there was a need to convert budget to reality by ensuring monies owed to the club are paid. Subject to these provisos the club are keen to improve the squad.”

The question was raised that, if a substantial offer was received for an existing player would the club accept it. The response from Mehmet was that everything is on the table but the club would be extremely reluctant to lose a player who was key to maintaining the current on field improvement."

So would the deal for Moore be easier as we’re owed £1 million from Bournemouth surely he’s not worth much more that at 31 and no football for months

This seemed very familiar so I looked it up.

It is in fact quotes by Mehmet Dalman which he made at a meeting with various fans` groups nearly two months ago on 11 November 2023. A report on that meeting was sent out to Trust members two days later then shortly after that more widely reported.

Almost certainly things have moved on considerably since then.

Brilliant news then Keith,

Erol will get his 4-6 players he needs then.

No idea Annis. Things will have moved on financially but no idea in which direction. Like everyone else outside the club directors and the club recruitment team , saying who will be joining the playing squad this month is pure guesswork,

Keith

That puts to end the Bakasetas rumours? Or can be balance with outgoings?

I honestly can't see much happening until the end of the window.

I'm not being negative or ITK or any of that but you take Moore for example, a number of clubs are interested so if I was in charge of Bournemouth I would let the bidding war begin and wait for the best offer.

By the sounds of it Moore wants to come to us which is in our favour but if for example Leeds bid more than us and offer Moore more money you telling me his head wouldn't be turned?

I expect the same for the other players we're linked with, they all want the best deal and clubs will hold out for the best offer that's why nothing much is happening not just with us but with all clubs.

How dare you speak so much sense. His estate agent's secretary's dog says he's signing for us... Done deal.

Another myth. Bournemouth have fully paid for Moore

Is it? Seems common knowledge that there is a debt.

The most interesting bit in MD statement is "ensuring monies owed to the club are paid."

What is that a reference to? Player sales or the settlement the club had with the brokers?

If as said above his statement is a rehash of one made in November, then has the club collected the broker monies settlement since then?

Read it as he meant Bournemouth owes us.
