Anastasios Bakasetas has signed for beşiktaş 2.5 year deal according to turkish newspapers

Forget about that then.

Let’s be honest, we can’t compete with clubs like Besiktas. They’re ten times the size we are.

Yet there was certain people on here saying the transfer to Cardiff was nailed on. This claiming to be ‘ITK’ is quite sad.

A link would be useful as it's not showing on their site or other transfer site. :o

Just some random account on twitter. Take with pinch of salt until someone with a record says it

Is this the same Besiktas that has an average attendance of 27,000 and are currently lying 6th I'm the Turkish Super League. Bigger ? I suppose so but ten times the size, never in a million years.

The manager always seem to state that there was no chance of him coming here

Re: Anastasios Bakasetas

All the reports are saying that the deal done is between clubs. So now it goes to the player.

Re: Anastasios Bakasetas

Always worth a crack and good on him if he gets an improved deal. I'd be slightly disappointed if this wasn't a bit of a smokescreen for our real achievable targets and double bubble if we did manage to get him.

On a slightly different note, paying for 30-year-olds isn't a great model. Paying for mid-20s offers profitable transfers. If Demi Goutas was 27, I could see a decent offer arriving over the summer, whilst a 30 year old gets you two decent years but no sell on, same with Kieffer

Depends if article is true? Read he as agreed deal but in same breath says his club didn't persue extension of contract which goes against story he turned his club down twice!! Would city turn down chance of £1m for him as price quoted considering bullut wants him?

They’re a massive club and known all over the world.

They’ve finished in the top three in eight of the last eleven seasons.

They’ve won the title 16 times and play in Europe season after season.

When did we last play in Europe and how many titles in the top tier have we won?

Actually, when have we even had 16 consecutive seasons in the top tier?

We are nowhere close to them.

I see this as another example of people thinking we’re a bigger club than we actually are.

What we are is a mid table second tier team. 20 years ago, we were even lower than that.

Trabsonspor's president is denying any bid, which is also online. I wouldn't assume the deal is over just yet. From what I'm reading he wants to come to us but wouldn't get anywhere near the money offered by Besiktas.

What currency would players playing in Turkey be paid in?

The reason is inflation is off the scale in Turkey so your lira may not be worth that much in a years time. Would a Greek player be paid in Euro's or even dollars.

If lira I'd get out ASAP

You would think its local currency as employed by Turkish club.... but there again football is not like any other buisness so could get paid in gold... :D

Think you're overstating their case mate.

For one, I am not "an example" of someone thinking we're bigger than we are. Besiktas are just not as famous worldwide that you think they are. The two most famous clubs in Turkey are Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, although Besiktas would come third on that list.

For all the titles they've won, they play in Turkey, which is hardly Serie A or the Bundesliga and nowhere near the Premier League. If they were an English side, they would in all probability not be playing in Europe at all, same as us.

Lastly they have never reached the semi final of a European cup tournament. We have.

They are a biggish club but just because they've had regular success in the Turkish league doesn't make them this massive, world renowned club you seem to think they are.

You do realise the Trabzonspor president has said he’s not going to Besiktas?

Also just read that they don’t want to sell him to another Turkish club and he doesn’t want to stay in Turkey.

But never mind all that, at least you got a poor sarcastic comment in.

The fact of the matter is that the deal for this.player was never even in the table nevermind nearly finalised as you quoted.

You need to sack your Source and stop giving out false info. Although 1 day you'll get 1 correct if you keep going lol.

Re: Anastasios Bakasetas

Three things which make me question the accuracy of this is that, when I looked, there was no announcement on either the besiktas website or the Trabzon website

My friend Dogus (pronounced dosh) who I used to work with is a passionate Trabzon supporter. He has seen nothing which confirms a transfer.

When he signed for Trabzon he described them as "the biggest and best side in Turkey".

Why don't you just keep your powder dry before you spout off? I for one enjoy hearing these rumours and snippets of information. If you don't like people putting them on then you don't need to waste your time reading them if that's your opinion.

Re: Anastasios Bakasetas

Apparently this has been rubbished today as they don't want to sell to a team in their league.
This is all a bit mad. Needs to end soon.
