Thanks for putting that up mate.
I was there that day and saw Ronnie Moore score!
Amazing how much the game has changed , from the tactics, fitness etc and the size of the dugouts lol.

I remember driving in and every road was full of red and white scarfs!

They had more fans than us.
Sunderland fans were incredible that day.

Sunderland brought over 10,000 Away Fans that day.
Sunderland had both ends of the ground and some in the main stand.
Newcastle a few years ago when they were going up were given 6,500 Tickets and actually sold only 4,200 Tickets and could pay on the day.
28 Apr 2017, Cardiff City 0 Newcastle United 2 Crowd 23,153 ( 4,282 Newcastle fans)

I became good friends with Sunderland fans
And I have seen them about 15 times.
I once went to Tranmere Away with them and they took 12,000 away fans on a Sunday.

Bit hairy walking down NP Road that day.. remember some Sunderland fans dressed in Clockwork Orange clobber shouting ‘C’mon Taff’.. at least I think that’s what it was. Think they got promoted the following Monday v West Ham. Good club them.
Best away support I’ve seen is Schalke.. 25,000 at Dusseldorf.

Although the commentator gave the goal to Ronnie Moore, it was Ray Bishop's goal, diverted enough by his head.

I was there! And yes I saw him score mote than once!
Best kit ever and the LuLu shuffle!

Yeah the JL shuffle. The Club could do itself a big favour going back to that kit on a permanent basis. Minus a Chinese worm.

I remember this; but oddly more memorable when we held them to a 1 - 1 draw at Ninian Park the Tuesday (May 7th) in the old Second Division (now Championship) after they won the FA Cup three days earlier...
Bobby Woodruff put us in front at half-time only for Vic Hallom to equalise in tbe secind half in front of 28,000+
Ironically, they beat the then mighty Leeds United 1 - 0 at Wembley and also in the Sunderland team were their legendary goalkeeper Jim Montgomery, who produced one of the best saves ever at Wembley to compete with the legendary Gordon Banks...

Went to watch Rudy Pika box in aba in London on the Friday night
coming back loads of them in services.
Then in Neville before game loads in there not a bad lot fair play.
