Cardiff City are set to sign Ryotaro Tsunoda from Yokohama F. Marinos.
The defender will then join Belgian side Kortrijk on loan for the remainder of the season.

If it’s true?
He’s 24 years old and only ever played 20 professional games in his career.
Just look where they are in the league and in real trouble, plus they are going down in value, the club is in turmoil.
Rick bottom.

I have never understood the attraction of signing a player and then immediately loaning them out.
What are the pros in doing that? He's not a "youngster" really so cant be to gain experience.
If the rumour is true then I'll support the lad 100% but just a genuine question as to why clubs do that

I suspect that is because Tan plans to offload Kortrijk and that he wants to keep the value of the player at Cardiff - rather than give him to whoever buy Kortrijk.

You loan them out to get a work permit.
Also looking at him he's a ball playing center back. Got a good eye for a pass.

Change of system, player going out. Could be anything

If true, does seem odd.
The only reason I can think is he wouldn’t get a work permit for UK.
But at 24, he’s not exactly a signing for the future. You would expect someone that age to have played more games and be ready for the first team.

I hope he's not one of Bulut's "up to 6 new players" that he wants. I'll be disappointed if so. We need players to go straight into our match day squad this season.

Definitely money laundering that is

Looks like a centre back, that can also cover left back.
Work permit reason seems to be the reason why he’s being loaned out. Annoyingly, he’d probably fit into the match day squad now.
Looks like a ball playing centre back, with a decent bit of pace too.
This signing says to me that although Bulut has not signed an extension yet, I think he knows it’s only around the corner.

I’m surprised Tan hasn’t used his Belgium to loan out more of our young or unwanted players in previous seasons?

Pro Football works differently in Japan, they have a big college football system, and those 20 games are of October 2022 so I’d assume he’s played more since then
