Cardiff City target Umut Nayir has signed for Turkish side Pendikspor in a blow to the Bluebirds' transfer window.

Erol Bulut's men were thoroughly outplayed by Leeds in a 3-0 demolition job at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the gulf between the two sides clear for all to see.

Bulut said he had a threadbare squad after a sickness bug hit his players, including the likes of Manolis Siopis, Perry Ng and Jamilu Collins, all of whom played against Leeds, plus Jonathan Panzo was recalled by Nottingham Forest. Callum Robinson was also unwell, according to the manager.

Speaking about the need for players, Bulut said: “I would like to tell [the fans something positive right now] but right now I cannot because I don’t know how the transfer window will go for us.

"We try, we have many names on the list- striker, winger, midfielder, centre-back. But it's everything about the finances and I don’t know where we are and how we can invest. I try to make my best for Cardiff City until the end of the season, with this team or with new players, I hope, but I will try my best for this team until the end of the season.

“I’m always positive, but it doesn’t make changes when I’m positive. I will be much, much more positive with new players coming in. I hope the following days, until the end of the window, we can finalise some transfers."

Asked directly about Nayir, a striker from Fenerbahce who Cardiff had targeted, Bulut told WalesOnline: "He has signed today for Pendikspor. This is also done."

Ryotaro Tsunoda is also another name which has been thrown into the mix. The Japanese player who has been released from J1 League club Yokohama F. Marinos.

Reports in Japan stated the 24-year-old would complete a move to the Bluebirds before leaving on loan and that is indeed the case. "This was already a deal from before, that he would go to Kortrijk," he added

The transfer blow rounds off a pretty miserable day, all things considered, for Bulut and Cardiff City. The Bluebirds boss was angry at the manner in which his team played and expected more from his players.

"We know about the strong side of Leeds United but my players today respected the opponent too much," he said of the Bluebirds' defeat against Leeds. "We have a quality, better team in front of us but we have to at least show more fighting spirit and try

. "You can lose a game but you have to fight and today was not that case. There were too many individual mistakes. If you make mistakes, quality opponents punish you and we got punished like that."

When pressed on his team's tactics, he said: "The opponent was pressing but the mistakes we made were not due to the pressure from the opponent. They were simple mistakes we shouldn’t make.

“We were not aggressive enough and not speedy enough. Shadow marking will not help us. We all have to go together and press with speed and aggression. The first half was not that case. We were far away from the opponent."

The usual communication break down we have had for years it sounds like. He be gone and blamed no doubt by the end of the season that's how we do things sadly as proven with manager after manager. Just say there's f**k all to spend and we carry on I'd rather that if that's the case.

As predicted, all smoke and bullshit by the board.

If Bulut was to walk/get sacked this evening then I don’t think there would be many knocking on the door to take the job.

In no particular order, I think the 3 most realistic targets would be Nathan Jones, John Eustace and Gary Rowett.

Forget names like Steve Cooper.

Maybe we need to shove a few tennis balls on the pitch.. I know Tan is keeping us afloat, but he’s never brought a feeling that all is well at the club. May ask what’s the point of his ownership?

I agree with you, it's a very misleading headline. He's obviously frustrated because he desperately needs new players and he expects to be supported by the board but no way has he indicated there is any rift between him and the board.

tan said he will back the manager but not pay silly money well ok then where are these players. the manager just said he has a list how can it be so hard to sign one or two like moore for instance who himself is more than willing to come. we even have ramsey ffs we need players to compliment him i hope we get the players the manager wants and we kick on then next season have a real good go of it, as it stands its not looking great

Think too many people thought the politician had turned over a new leaf and believed him.

How can the club get around ffp?

Those post match comments have the air of a manager who doesn't expect to be at the club next season.

Has he had some sort of indication that the club won't be offering him a new contract or is he perhaps inferring this from the "financial difficulties" that suddenly seem to be an issue but weren't being mentioned a week or so ago?

Perhaps the board are reluctant to back him financially because they've already decided not to offer him a new contract?

All guesswork of course but nothing surprises me at Cardiff nowadays.

Wouldn't be surprised if Tan was already sounding out Steve Morrison as Bulut's successor.
