I think the players do give 100% every match but against the better teams like Leicester, Leeds etc they just ain't good enough that's the facts , Leeds team cost 197 million ours a very snall fraction of that .

100%, some people on here are posting stuff as if we are a top 3 team in the league when in reality we are a long way away from that.
The amount of posts about how bad we were today as if we should have smashed them.

Again, whats your point? Should we not show up if someones got a more expensive squad??
Its a walk in the park for these "more expensive players".

The point is that we struggle against teams that have been put together with millions of ££££. We do well against the rest and compete well. That’s how I read it and agree with that.

Exactly, our position in the league doesn't lie , it doesn't always go with money spent there's is the odd exception but genetal it does go with budget .

Most of our 11 are established championship players. Add a couple of Greek internationals to it to boot.
Im not saying we beat Leeds. I'm saying we make them work for their win. We bent over and lubed up today. Not for the first time, either.

No excuse for missed tackles and lack of effort. Poor

The only times that I’ve seen us completely played off the park this season were yesterday, Southampton away and Leicester home. It’s not a coincidence that these teams have players worth millions in their squads.

This is where Bulut's tactical nous comes into question. There are other tactics or systems the manager could employ against better footballing sides that would give us a better chance of getting something out of the game. Plus the players do seem to lack motivation to get stuck in and appear to be more passive recently. Bulut has to be given a chance to strengthen the team but am I confident that he is the man to take us forward ? Not really, so if there is some hesitation from the board to fully back him, I can sort of understand it.

Fair point, though I think we are tactically limited with the current squad imo. Tan and co are in a difficult position imo, we seem safe this season so why invest now when it can be done in the summer? Or…we are 3points off 6th so should we go for it?

I don’t think any lube was involved! Straight old shafting!

It is a quandary but it's not as if decisions made by the board now will have a major impact going forward. Three points from the play-offs we maybe but in reality we are far behind some of those teams teams currently vying for the 5th and 6th places.
There has been so much vitreol spouted on here since yesterday's game you would think the club is in imminent danger of collapse. Imagine if we were in bottom 6 or indeed a Reading fan (after the abandonment of yesterday's game).
I think it's because there was genuine excitement at the beginning of the season that the club was finally pulling itself out of the doldrums and we could see nothing but a rosier future. Now that things are a bit more uncertain, it's inevitable that some choose to vent their anger on here. We should at least see out the window before we start commenting on the boards ineptitude and lack of ambition.

First, we're not safe. Let's get to 50 points minimum and talk then.
Second, people paying hard earned money for STs rightly expect us to at least go for teams when we're playing at home. We haven't done that consistently for quite a few matches with our form tailing off alarmingly.
Bulut persists in playing the same formation home and away, which for home matches I think is a bit negative.
Two supposed wingers supporting a lone front man. Etete and Meite have been found wanting here - they don't get support from proper wing play (getting dangerous crossing in) because Bowler and Grant etc are too busy tucking in tight and looking to cover their fullbacks.
Why the hell doesn't Bulut try 442 and use his wingers as they are meant to be used? It's so frustrating. He could easily play for example: Etete and Grant as a front two with Bowler and Tanner on the wings. He won't do this though as he's stubbornly defensively minded and this rigid formation of his is now having a negative impact.
We could be giving the players we have more freedom to test opposition defenders but it's not happening.
Loads we're walking out yesterday from 70+ minutes because anyone can see, we offer no threat to change the game and Bulut will not change shape.

All valid points. If Bulut is still here next season all we can hope for is that the experience he will have gained from his first taste of Championship football will stand him in good stead going forward.
If he persists with the type of football/formations played after he's made some new signings (fingers crossed), then his time here may come to a swift end, especially if the results don't pick up significantly.

ER We didn't have one worthwhile shot on their goal yesterday.
Apathetic , pathetic...If you're happy with that lot, good luck. The poor dabs
had a rest the week before!
Bulut will walk or be pushed, next 2 weeks crucial.

The truth is there is hardly any quality in the team and there has not been for 3 yrs.
They are giving their best but not good enough.
But we are now starting to cave in.

Thats it in a nutshell.
We can't go physical as we don't have any of those anymore, we can't get close enough to kick them even. We are a slow team, Etete & Colwill are so tall they need two or three strides to get going.
We need to play Wintle at "10" as he and Rinomhota are the only ones with legs. Perry by Full Back standards is slow. The only aggressive players are Ralls,NG and Rinomhota.
Then there is the lack of quality.....Still no idea how we can even muster FFP talk

I agree and I’ve just read what Bulut has said:
Erol Bukut:
“You can lose a game but you have to fight and today was not that case,” said Bulut.
“If I told you how I feel on the inside, it would not be good. I need to be calm.
“We have a quality, better team in front of us but we have to at least show more fighting spirit.
“We were not aggressive enough and not speedy enough. Shadow marking will not help us. We all have to go together and press with speed and aggression. The first half was not that case. We were far away from the opponent.
“There were too many individual mistakes. If you make mistakes, quality opponents punish you and we got punished like that.”
“The lack of desire does not seem to be there at the moment with my players.”

Bulut is right, it's not that we lost but the manner in which lost with no fight. Perry got booked for a foul that was just out of shear frustration more than anything, at least he showed he cared & I didn't get that feeling from most of them yesterday.
We need to stick with him & not change managers every few games like last season, we're not close to relegation and even if we get 6th we won't go far as we don't have the players.
I say don't waste money on expensive players in this transfer window but wait until the summer for that sort of expenditure, just be savvy in what we need to see us safely to the end of the season.
