just why did he do that !

Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:26 pm

1-1 half time created some chances switched off for their goal ok fine same again next half ? no he changed to 5 at the back which allowed their full backs to push up and make the game open up for them.

its not the first time erol has made this mistake he needs to stick to a tactical plan and trust the players. its over to the board now do they back the manager ?

i feel we cant judge erol with this team its a league 1 team at best and its now starting to show our luck has ran out.

if he gets all hes asking for and the results dont come then im afraid there will be no excuses left but i do feel he can make things work with the players he wants and needs over to you mr tan and dalman all eyes are looking :banghead:

My state of mind with this lot is that I can't see 90 minutes in them.

If we manage to take the lead I fear we cannot hold onto it. If we go behind that's it game over. I'm also not comfortable with substitutions because they don't work. Well I can't remember one working. Actually I'm praying we win enough point now to stay up.

As for Bulut I think its only fair we give him a summer window with some money to spend.

He was trying desperately to hold out for the draw from half time onwards.

They scored and he had no idea how to get back in the game.

He took the right player off as Tanner was awful for most of the first half, missing passes & gifting the ball to Plymouth on a few occasions.

I didn't see it that way after last week. There was no lack of effort from our team; just a lack of quality where and when it mattered...

We were playing with 10 men (9 including Collins) as Tanner was lost and when he got the ball gave it away. He had to try something.

He’s had a fair few subs which have impacted games.

Tanner v Swansea.

Sheff Wed away two late goals after substitutions. Etete instrumental.

Ralls with an assist v Millwall after coming on.

Preston away we won the game late with substitute Ugbo scoring the winner from a cross from substitute Wintle.

Colwill a late sub against Bristol City scored.

it was the change in formation that messed us up it invited them to attack and that is what they did first half they really struggled to get going the minute we went a back 5 they just constantly put the ball in behind

Yeah agree. Although for the last 20 of the first half it was the same so he probably tried something to counter that.

Had he not done anything he would have got stick as well.

Unfortunately there is now a shift against Bulut. Despite there being a consensus that we would be happy a season of consolidation (which this still will be) we over performed so it’s give stick to Bulut time.

We don’t have the patience to get a manager and give them time.

Cardiff just don’t have the depth to make substitutions work.

We struggle with our best players, the bench players aren’t gonna do much better either.

This squad was built with freebies, that won’t get you a play-off calibre team.

Exactly, we need fresh legs, our players are stagnant in the idea department. Not EB’s fault he can only work with what he has and at the moment it’s the same 15 players.

He never changed the formation, he just switched a few players to different positions as tanner was shocking first half.

First half he had Tanner (LWB), Collins (LCB), McGuiness (CB), Goutas (RCB), Ng (RWB)

Second Half he replaced Tanner with Romeo which meant to avoid square pegs in round holes a bit of shifting about had to be done.

Sometimes you have to actually watch the game with your own eyes and not go off what football apps are telling you.

It was the same formation, different personnel.

Thanks Sven was talking to him tonight about the game on my way home.

He is a pain in the arse to watch football with as he is constantly analysing everything but in fairness has brainwashed me with knowledge.

He was back for Leeds, was meant to be back today but swerved and will be back for Watford and Preston,

He believes in Bulut but says he needs the next three windows to move out players and replace, with quality. Has to be done gradually (quality not quantity) not big turnovers of players but not sure after today he will be given time.

I let him know you mentioned him

In what universe does taking Tanner off ( who admittedly did a good job of showing why he couldn't get a game on loan in the lower leagues last season) and replacing him with Romeo show any attempt at winning the game?

He made right decision to take tanner off. Would have preferred to have thrown another youngster on. Romeo isnt Up to it

Tanner is an out and out attacker. His stats at the start of the season back that up - in one 15 minute sub appearance (can't remember the opposition) he made 5 dribbles which was more than double what anyone else made in the entire 95 mins. He wasn't doing much tracking back in the early season, but now he's added that to his game.

What he isn't is a full-back! Strange decision to start an attacker effectively as a defender. Give the lad a chance to do what he's good at. His tracking back and defensive work with Ng behind him is excellent, but he was on a hiding to nothing yesterday. Got to blame Bulut IMO and as someone else says, did Romeo do any better?
