What has changed?

Sat Jan 20, 2024 10:00 pm

At the start of the season we had a new manager and coaching staff and a squad comprised of free transfers and loan players.

For the first third of the season we were competing well in most every game, drawing away at Leeds, almost getting something away at Leicester and Ipswich and snatching three points at Sunderland. We looked like a team with realistic play off potential.

For the second third of the season so far we have had exactly the same manager, the same coaching staff and the same squad of free transfers and loan players.

Yet our performances have been almost the total opposite of those during the first third. We are miles away from Leeds, Leicester and Southampton and our performances over the past dozen or so games has been brink of relegation form.

So what's changed?

Why is Bulut unable to get a tune out of the players now when it seems he was able to do so during the first third of the season?

Nothing apparently!

The opposition.

We have been sussed. We do not have the guile or skill to break down teams so they just sit there, rarely press, and wait for us to turn over the ball. A decent set-play game saves our ass more often than not.

Inept wingers, no center-forward with a basic midfield means we can only hope to keep it tight and nick a goal.
