Fans Advisory Board

Sun Jan 21, 2024 5:46 pm

I am just checking if season ticket holders and members have received their invitations to vote, via the club website, for the candidates they wish to be appointed to the Fans Advisory Board whose first meeting will be early next month. Their photos and brief introductions to themselves are on the official webpage as well as in the invitations.

The FAB, who will have a lot of power in terms of communication on key matters the club must have with them, will consist of 11 fans.

6 are already appointed as the official Supporters Club Committee, the Trust board and the Disabled Supporters Committee were each asked to vote on and elect people to the FAB from their board/committees. They did so and 2 from the Trust (myself and Mike Spear),2 from the CCSC committee (Jane Ford and Luke Sommerfield) and Keiran Jones from the DSA were voted in democratically by their respective organisations. Therefore those roles are already filled. In addition a representative from the club`s sponsors/corporate fans has been appointed.

For the 5 remaining places there will be 1 female rep. plus 1 under 25 plus 3 others from the season ticket fan base. The reason for this basis is that the Government White Paper on the matter recommends as wide a spread of the type of fans elected as practicable whilst saying there is an expectation of Trust and female representation on the FAB. Season ticket holders will decide who the 5 are by their vote - 1 in each category.

Once in place the FAB will meet with senior club officials, including at director level, on a quarterly basis although the FAB itself may choose to meet more regularly without club representatives present to discuss issues which they consider important.

It should be noted that issues such as away ticketing arrangements will not be topics for discussion through the FAB but will continue to be dealt with by the regular (and very good) SLO meetings.

Don`t forget to use your vote . If you haven`t received any notification email the club to ask to receive it ahead of the voting deadline of 31 January.
