Long time user on here. Look every single day, stopped posting as I was spending way too much time posting and debating!
However yesterday’s Bulut interview made me want to share some thoughts.
His English ain’t great, was unsure if some of it was taken out of context, but it was clear he was speaking out and upwards towards the board/Tan.
Not sure he would have taken the job of a technically relegated team (thanks Reading) with a ban on signing players and dwindling attendances unless he was told he would be backed in the second window if ban is lifted.
So while it’s fairly obvious this is what he’s talking about, this has got me thinking that he’s Dalman's guy not Tans and maybe Tan is thinking of being reluctant to part with the cash, not trusting Bulut?
But also, January is a nightmare for recruitment of players, particularly those that can make a difference and improve you.
We often moan about the lack of clarity from our owner, what’s the plan? What’s our philosophy ? Where’s the comms between him and his customers (us/the fans)? But to have it between him and his manager is scary.
It’s obvious that’s happened. No clarity or comms!
Does he want his own man in?
The way I see it the best appointment he can make is by recruiting experienced football men onto the board to make the big decisions, i.e. recruiting managers and coaching staff, signing off transfers, more focus on the academy and open dialogue and improved relations with the fans. Maybe even elect an appointed fans representative onto the board.
Tan is not capable of making football decisions, he comes across as stubborn and unforgiving, still waffling on about the Cornelius and Murphy signings. I genuinely think he doesn’t trust managers recruitment with his money.
I was almost one of a bunch of my mates who have stopped attending city games since the rebrand. I stuck with it and yes from where we were, perilously dodging the taxman to two premier league stints and a Wembley final pen shoot out, that’s a big turnaround. But I still, have wanted him gone all this time despite those change in fortunes. And now more than ever, but it’s probably his club until a day comes when he is physically incapable of running it because his asking price is to high.
So Tan isn’t going anywhere neither is the wiggly worm, red seats and his prayer room at CCS. I just wish he would get football men in, and take a step backwards.
My worry is he doesn’t want to put the money in anymore and we will be a mid to bottom of the table championship team until the day the club had a different owner.
Regular dices with relegation, empty seats at CCS., dwindling away support numbers. I would just appreciate some comms from him or Dalman on what’s going on, what the plan is?
Is there a vision?
What are the expectations?
What are the ambitions and are they realistic?
And more importantly is there money to spend and who is in charge of recruitment and signing off the deals?
In terms of Bulut, 6 points off the playoffs, 2 derby wins and mid table in mid January, from a technically relegated club with a dictator owner and a summer window with a transfer ban, I would have snapped your hand off for that!
However, he has proved himself to be tactically naive, even out managed by a serial losing Wayne Rooney, stubborn with his formation, no plan b or c, curious substitutions and team selections and yesterday he was all over the shop.
We keep conceding similar goals in the six yard box why is this?
What’s happening on the training pitch?
I watch the warm up behind the goal, down the front of the canton, the shooting accuracy is woeful. The sideways and backwards passing of the midfield. Leeds third goal came under 10 seconds after our short corner that went backwards. Colwill always moving forward looking to pass forward, there are no options or movement in front of him, he is a different player to the rest of the squad and would prosper playing with like minded players in a more fluid team.
Why then not try a different formation with the players he has available? Because those battling for the front 3 positions do not score!! I could go on, the debacle with the goalkeepers, not using Panzo and sticking with the static Siopis, Wintle, Ralls axis. I for one won’t be to bothered if he walks or gets sacked, as long as we don’t get another ridiculous Harris/Morrison appointment.
Coopers star is to bright, Nathan Jones seems an obvious choice. It’s a poor samey league outside of the top 5, we could really go for that sixth spot! Are we hell!
My main point is , whatever happens, that Tans, ignorance, stubbornness and obvious loss of love for our club does not lead to us being another Sheffield Wednesday or Reading. Tennis balls and pitch invasions . I hope it does not get that bad.
Talk to us Mr Tan, and please allow football men make the decisions even if you aren’t going to provide us with any transfer funds.
At least we will know and be realistic with our hopes and dreams for this club we love.
