" Dalman says Erol Bulut is staying / plus transfers soon "

Mon Jan 22, 2024 1:22 pm

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has allayed fears over the future of manager Erol Bulut.

And he has assured fans the club are working hard to make signings in the January transfer window.

Doubts over Bulut's future arose after an explosive interview with BBC Sport Wales after Saturday's 3-0 Championship defeat at Plymouth Argyle.

MEHMET DALMAN:

But Dalman said on Monday: "He's going nowhere. Erol is an important part of our plans."

Following Saturday's loss, Bulut said he was "not happy with many things," and that he was considering his future.

"I have to decide about myself and the future with the club. I will make a decision about that," said the 48-year-old former Fenerbahce boss.

"I have to maybe make a decision for myself on how my future will go with the club, because I came here to change things in a positive way."

He cited his frustration with Cardiff's inability to bring in signings so far during the current transfer window, suggesting new recruits were integral to him continuing.

Bulut said: "Everyone knows [we need players]. I know it, the board knows it, the fans know it, all of us, we know it."

Having emerged from a transfer embargo on buying players, Cardiff are able to spend money on transfer fees this window, rather than just scour the loan and free agent market.

But so far they have been frustrated in their efforts to bring players to the club - with Bournemouth's Wales striker Kieffer Moore their number one target.

It is understood Bulut has been involved in talks on Monday to get transfers over the line.

And chairman Dalman, who spearheaded the move in attracting Bulut to Cardiff in June, told fans the club were working hard on new recruits.

"I want to assure supporters we are making every effort to get players in. It has been difficult but we are still optimistic," said the Cardiff chairman.

"So far in this market there has been little movement. We are not alone."

Because they are out of the FA Cup, Cardiff do not have a game until their home Championship fixture with Watford on February 3 - after the January transfer window closes.

Cardiff still have to operate within Financial Fair Play rules but by that Watford encounter they hope to have recruited reinforcements to boost a side which is 15th in the table and has won just one of their last five league games.

They may also seek to end the uncertainty over Bulut's contract arrangement.

He signed a one year deal when he was appointed and, despite the recent run of form, has overseen a big improvement in the team. The club are expected to take action to cement his future at Cardiff City Stadium.

WORCESTER
Some good new at last but the board have to decide are we going to compete finacially with the top 8 teams its all very well as fans and board saying that we are not paying silly money wages or transfers
Moore as an example if we want him you have to compete in todays market and psy the going rate for wages if the structure needs changing so be it but if we don' t watch other clubs snap up the best and we end up like we have done the last few years with loans etc scrating around in bargain basement and we have all been moaning on the forum about a team of loan players you cannot get the best on the cheap something has to change

He going nowhere but he’s only got 4 months left on his contract?

Dalman says the same thing every transfer window

This seems a bit more like reality rather than the depressing hyperbole which took place on this board following Saturdays events and loss. The catastrophising here really gets out of hand at times.

The fact that we now have 2 weeks without a game is an advantage to get things sorted out and let’s leave the club to get on with their business without endless negative speculation. Everyone has a right to their own opinions but the way some people comment on here and turn everything into an anti-Tan or “sack the board” or sack the manager” thread are giving a much too negative vibe about the place.

We are in a position that is no better and no worse than around 15 other teams in the Championship and it’s time to pull together .

Sorry for butting in but Bluebird58 has a point...

You yourself have raised multiple negative threads a day on the situation and whilst I know it's out of a perceived frustration, it hasn't helped

And I say the same to others who have decided with no factual evidence that the club are doing 'nothing' this window

Let the club do its work and let's see what occurs. Then (and only then) can we praise or criticise

It's no wonder the club keep so much to their chest; although I do believe communication is less than poor

I am sure BBC did not make this up as otherwise we will see another suing action

Mate, it wasn’t the fans being upset it was our manager Erol who has been moaning for weeks or are you death and blind or it suits you to say all this due to a Dalman speech.
So you currently feel very positive about City?

It’s possible he’s talking about his own contract. I believe his family are not with him atm and he’s hoping a contract is sorted. That plus he wants some transfer activity asap, that’s why he’s with Dalman this morning according to the bbc.

Now don’t ban me for speaking my mind Sven, why can’t we have an opinion even if it is negative, as City fans most are not happy at the moment.
Now promise me you won’t ban me again for having an opinion fella

Did Bulut say his family are not with him and that’s why he is unhappy?
I not heard that, only football talk from our manager.
Who told you that?

In managers before, what we had was rubbish and none of the previous managers had the "air of authority" to speak out and let their views know.

EB is the best manager we have had for a long time. He has an excellent pedigree having managed several clubs in the Turkish Premier League and he knows what it takes to get clubs into Europe. For Cardiff, in half a season, he has turned us from relegation fodder to a side that is close to the playoffs.

He speaks out and shares his views as if he is one of us.

He is not one to bow down to authority. Instead, he says "Back me or sack me" and he can say that because he has the history and "air of authority" to say so.

For VT this is the best chance he has of recouping his money in a long time. He can either go back to being a side who escapes relegation because of other clubs' financial woes - Or he can put his faith in EB and take the profits when we do get to the Premier League again.

I will go back to my old true self as because I started believing in the MP this season and so wanted it to be true for the sake of our club, I actually got slated for that.

I don’t believe 95% of what comes out of Dalmans Bullshit mouth.

Well said Paul.

I am 50-50 about Erol Buluts tactics.

It was on a post either today or yesterday.think it stated that he’s possibly homesick. He says he’s not happy that transfers haven’t materialised as I’ve also said in my post.

Annis, every year I want to believe Dalman when he says they will back the manager and support him.

But even I have run out of belief that will actually happen now.

Bulut isn't perfect, he's made mistakes. But I'll say again that he needs to be backed or things will never get better, we're unlikely to get a better manager than Bulut under this ownership.

Ned,

Yes your very positive every season.

I fully backed / publicly on here everything about this current season and really wanted to belief and the last week because I felt let down I have been criticised now for being positive back in August / September.

We I won’t ever believe anymore bullshit from Dalman again.

They all need to go.

Re: " Dalman says Erol Bulut is staying / plus transfers soo

It’s good news but with a sour taste.

Can understand the club not commenting yesterday but to leave it so late in the day.

Reality is Dalman is standing by his mate, he put his neck out to get him in now he has to back his mate against Dictator Tan and get the funding needed. We’ve got 9 days and a handful of hours left so let’s see what they can achieve. But they need to show they’re trying. Expecting players to go “before” we bring new in isn’t going to work because if we run out of time we won’t have enough players to field a team and we know we can’t rely on Purse’s side as he’s taught them how to lose week in week out.

Negativity - yes, but that’s how it is. Positive news though. And they definitely need to secure a decent contract so EB can look at getting his family over so he’s more settled

Dalman is as sly as the Riddler, he just tells us what we want to hear and then has an excuse to why it didn’t work out.
