Sun Jan 28, 2024 1:27 pm

Game has had to be stopped after Wolves scored their second goal, players have gone back down the tunnel.

Unfortunately the game attracts some real scumbags.
Every club has them.

The game was at Albion and Albion fans actually got Wolves fans tickets in their home end.

When Wolves scored , Wolves celebrated and were immediately attacked by Albion fans

Prison incoming!!

Certainly going to be retribution across the board after that...

Fines for club and a mix of fines/bans for supporters found to have been involved...

One 'bloody' image apart, I'm not sure I saw enough to warrant any prison time...?

I agree with you, prison time is harsh, especially for the ones who may have a bit too much to drink and got a bit over excited without thinking of the consequences. But, with this game live on tv and the big media coverage, I think the authorities will use this to “make an example” so to speak.

WBA skint already-if they get fined they won't be thanking their fans

The Football Association has launched an investigation after West Brom's FA Cup defeat by local rivals Wolves was suspended for 38 minutes because of "completely unacceptable" crowd trouble at The Hawthorns.

Police said two arrests were made and a man is in hospital with head injuries.

Trouble flared after Wolves took a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute.

Fights began in the corner of the West Stand and Birmingham Road end while missiles were thrown elsewhere.

As fans spilled on to the pitch, players returned to the dressing rooms.

"The disorder that occurred at the Black Country derby between West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers is completely unacceptable," said the FA in a statement.

"Safety and security are of the utmost importance, and the behaviour of those involved is dangerous and inexcusable.

"We will be investigating these serious incidents and appropriate action will be taken."

West Brom said they "condemn in the strongest terms the unsavoury scenes" and that they would work with West Midlands Police and the FA to help their investigations.

The Championship club added that "any individual involved in the disorder will be subject to a club ban".

Once police had restored order the players returned to the field shortly after 13:50 GMT to begin a warm-up, with the game resuming 10 minutes later.

"We've had extra officers at this local derby and they responded immediately as disorder in the stands caused fans to spill onto the pitch," said West Midlands Police.

"Two people were arrested for public order offences. Another man was arrested before the game for possession of an offensive weapon."

I'm not sure alcohol is to blame here. How much drinking would've taken place with a 12 noon KO?

Possible that some narcotics use could have influenced behaviour but I reckon most would've been sober.

Just pointless, gratuitous violence as far as I can tell.

Club and individuals will get big punishment here
Being live on TV and seeing one of the players carrying his scared child
Along with the incident of racial abuse directed at the Coventry player
idiots being idiots unfortunately
The media have had a field day piling on football and the internet mob declaring we are going back to the 'dark ages'

I agree.
I also don’t think that being a bit drunk should lessen any penalty that anyone gets. (This was touched on further up the thread).

I blame the nanny state as this behaviour is on the increase due to lenient or non prison sentences.
Points deduction here IMHO.
If baggies bought tickets for wolves fans they can trace them through seat numbers surely?
Life ban.

They’ll pursue this lot mercilessly.. pity they don’t have the same zest when pursuing other groups.
