Bullshit
Updated:
Serbian striker Andrej Ilic looks set for a move to Lille.
Cardiff had been credited with interest in the Valarenga striker over the last week or so, with big transfer fees being touted by reporters in Norway.
However, Fabrizio Romain claims that Lille have struck a deal with a package worth around €4m for the striker, who is said to be booked in for a medical at the French club today.
Cardiff bid to Valerenga is structured in these terms:
- £3.4 in fixed payments, will be payed in 3 installments. 1.3 mln in 2024, 1.3 mln in 2025 and 800k in 2026.
- £2.3 in add-ons: 1.5 million if/when Cardiff join Premier League, 400k when/if he scores 15 goals and 400k for number of matches (should be around 40/50)
- Few details missing between the clubs, terms still need to be discussed on player side but the player is keen on the move

Looks promising this morning.
If true, why do we always wait till right at the end? Lol

Yes great news if true. I posted the initial rumour about Ilic some weeks back, in the hope that it had ‘legs’.
This could be a great signing for us. Already has a good scoring record and only 23. Fingers crossed, I think he was the main target (once the Moore deals started failing).

Yep I heard about this a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps the best one yet I thought. I'll be happy if this one pulls off.

He looks decent and hopefully with Ramsy back to supply some creativity, he could hit the ground running. A better choice than Moore for me as possibly resale value down the line

Good news if true.

There’s a few Bob we’re splashing out there tbf
Promising that he’s keen on move so hopefully the remaining player negotiations should be smooth.

Looks good from what Ive read and (briefly) seen
Lets get this over the line ASAP

Presumably the potential deal is structured in a way that helps the club stay within the limits of FFP.

Transfers are normally spread these days for those reasons
Mon Jan 29, 2024 11:28 am
If the amounts are true and we are happy to spend this much on players then it opens up the thought train of perhaps the players we've missed out on (e.g. Baka, Bhadi, Ucan, Nayir etc) didnt sign due to other reasons and not because we werent willing to spend?
I am not a fan of the current owners but perhaps this does show they are trying

A signing like this excites me. And one I’d much prefer we do over Moore. Whilst we know Moore is a proven scorer in this league, he’s got no resale value if we were to buy him. This lad could be like our Mitrovic and be worth a small fortune in years to come too. Hopefully the fans aren’t on his back after a few bad games which he’ll undoubtedly have when settling into a new team and country.

Can I be greedy and suggest we get KM on loan - and have two decent strikers
Mon Jan 29, 2024 12:14 pm
More like it, but sounds like a hell of a lot of money, but that's the market we are in.

That is greedy but 2 extra strikers would be great
Mon Jan 29, 2024 12:41 pm
Never heard of the guy but fingers crossed he will be a good long term signing
Now get Keiffer in and Etete out on loan

Breaking: French Ligue 1 club Lille are looking to hijack the deal with a late €3,75M + bonus offer to Vålerenga for Serbian striker Andrej Ilic (23). LOSC could be able to offer quicker payment and more guarantees than Cardiff City. To be continued.
Mon Jan 29, 2024 1:34 pm
Hoping it’s not true but seeing it everywhere this last hour
Mon Jan 29, 2024 1:37 pm
On Monday morning, it seemed certain that Cardiff City were signing Andrej Ilic from Valerenga.
Norwegian outlet TV2 claimed that the Championship side were ‘close to agreeing’ his arrival, as there had been a ‘breakthrough in negotiations’ between clubs.
It now seems there could be a big turnaround, though, because journalist Arilas Aould-Saada comes to Twitter to claim Lille are now trying to hijack the deal.
The French side are said to be offering €3.75m plus bonuses for the transfer. Their advantage is said to be quicker payments and ‘more guarantees’ than Cardiff City.
Back in the original report, it had been said that the Championship side could pay a total amount of €6.2m for the transfer, but only around €3.1m was ‘guaranteed’, as the rest was related to performance bonuses which seemed ‘unrealistic’.
That would be a reason why Lille’s offer is so attractive for Valerenga, who’ll clearly push for their best interests when accepting bids.
So even though Ilic’s transfer to Cardiff City had just been pending details and the player’s own approval, it now seems he could be pushed somewhere else instead.

Mon Jan 29, 2024 2:03 pm

Our deal still sounds better, we pay more if he's as good as they think he is, if he's crap they'll get slightly less, hopefully playing in the UK and being seen by premier league teams will be a greater attraction for him.

Maybe chance to play in Europe and champions league may be a bigger pull

True but being on the weekly radar for Premier league clubs could also be a good shout
