Bulut’s press conference bit confusing

Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:37 pm

I know his English isn’t brilliant at times but I’m not sure what he means

He says in the last few days he was shocked by the amount of money available and therefore looking at many different players

So is he saying he is shocked by how little was available so had to settle for lesser players or is he shocked there is more money than he thought so that’s how he’s now hopefuly able to bring in 4/5 players??

Don’t understand what he is trying to say??

Think he is saying he thought there would be more available than he got given to work with

I normally wait until they put it on Cardiff City TV, always easier to understand it then.

Yep that’s what I think he is saying but it’s not clear

Obviously he is saying something happened about 3 days ago and the available budget was altered

Dalman will have some explaining to do if it was reduced at the last minute??

Would he look at more players because he had more money available?
I agree it’s a bit ambiguous but at least we’ve got some new faces coming in.

Maybe the amount of funds available for transfers and wages couldn`t be set until after the EFL agreed the level of compliance with P&S requirements? Agreement only earlier this week?

Possibly but Surely this would have been worked out ages ago and not left until 3 days before the end of a transfer window??

He is demanding to be backed and is still waiting on a new contract for next season

Erol Bulut:

“So I gave my word I will fight with my players until the end of the season.”

“From my side, everybody will know I will be here until the end of the season.”

Still very ambiguous it’s not clear if he’s a bit happier with his budget or disappointed??

Re: Bulut’s press conference bit confusing

I think bulut was hoping to stay in the top 10 and be backed by the board with the 6 he wanted at the top of his list
but has been shocked that there was not the money available and has had to rethink the hole project
and he has reflected and in my opinion he will be gone end of season it's not what he thought it would be
standard of teams and the Budget he has had to work with
I think he was very envious of the likes of leicster leeds southampton etc with there squads and thought he could build the same and be backed to rebuild
but he has come down to earth with a very big bump

His press conferences at the start of the season where of hope and looking forward to meeting with fans etc but his demeanor has changed completly in his later interviews
and was desperate to get to the transfer window to have his first chance to rebuild
but has hit a brick wall with his expectations derailed
He has players in but has had to shift out a lot but i honestly think he is not happy with this first experience of restraint of what he can and cannot do
"Backed but on a budget".

I'm more concerned with his comment that he says He is here until the end of the season. His extended contract I'm sure would have been sorted by now. He needs assurances from the board too about whats happening to him. he has to assume no contact means no renewal.

Will he therefore be planning a pre season, planning for next year? There's so much doubt around continuity.....

Lets just give him a two year deal, and see if he works his magic.....

After listening to all of it, what I took from Erol. Sounds like the planned budget was pulled 3-4 days before the deadline and we had to go after some lesser targets?

Re: Bulut’s press conference bit confusing

Thu Feb 01, 2024 5:51 pm

Erol Bulut:

“This is the first year for me here in English football. It’s a limited budget to make five or six players. It’s not easy. So no one can say why we didn’t take certain players.”

“If I showed you my list of strikers… but in the last few days if you hear you’ve only got a budget of £10 you can’t do it. That only happened in the last three days! “

“So we have to look at other options, the best for Cardiff City to bring good players in.”

It not clear but it does sound like that..so obviously something was pulled from the budget just 3 days before the end of the transfer window??

I would imagine whatever it was wouldn’t have completely come out of the blue and somebody would have known about it..If that’s true it appears once again our hierarchy have proved their incompetence yet again and more evidence they are not up to the job

Mate, all through December Erol was saying he had plans of six players lined up, he never heard from the board, then a few days before January they look like they did not deliver on budget promised, Erol goes public, they realise alarm bells. Erol gets a smaller budget as long as he stays till season ends, Erol though loses all his targets and has to bring in other players. I hope Erol stays come the end of this season

Another 'mystery' well explained, Keith; although Annis' post above does read better...

It appears we (the club) have spent money but it won't stop some from scoutung the negative angle though... :(

Re: Bulut’s press conference bit confusing

I think we could have spent more but the EFL warned us to stay within FFP. Same for a lot of clubs. If we had gone over the FFP rules the same fkn idiots that blame the board for everything wrong in their lives would be apoplectic.

We are definitely going in the right direction.

As a fan of course I would have loved us to sign lots of top notch players. However, I genuinely believe that the quality of players we have brought in (plus will finalise later today) has considerably improved the squad whilst those having gone out haven`t caused a loss of first team high quality.
We will also be P&S compliant ready for next season when more players at the end of their contracts can be offloaded, freeing up more financial space for further squad improvement.
What the owner and directors now need to do is set a plan for at least a season (and preferably beyond) with the current manager to enable him to grow into the British game further and add that skill into his existing skills.

Chris

I am a supporter first and foremost and have been since the week after my 5th birthday in August 1962
My involvement in the Trust and now in the Fans Advisory Board is just supplementary to that to get an independent voice for fans with the club. Those roles have been (and possibly will be) the cause of several disagreements with the owner and directors but I have no problem with that as I value my independence. However, for the sake of balance and fairness, where the owner and directors get things right I think they should be supported and congratulated. That opens me up to criticism from some posters , but then you can`t please all of the people all of the time!!

Fans know that we have thrown the towel in for a other season eonder what buluts thinking is as he sees out the rest of tge season
He will obviously want to look good and do well for his cv but is his heart in it
i really think that he has been let down.
