Erol Bulut will not speak about it and had only a small amou

Erol Bulut will not speak about the play-offs and had only a small amount of money in the transfer dealings.

Tuesday 6th February 2024

Erol Bulut said of the transfer dealings:

EROL BULUT:

“But we have to see that we had a small amount (of money) to make those transfers, not like other clubs, who can invest what they want.”

"We managed it. We sent many players away and got players in.”

“Other clubs have different amounts, so (if we had the same), we might have been different on the market. But we took the best players we could get for our limit."

In Erol Buluts first few months in charge, Bulut had Cardiff in and out of the Top Six regularly and Bulut spoke repeatedly about wanting to stay in those top-six places, as is natural when you are in them and with an expectant and rejuvenated fan base drinking in each and every word with glee after two campaigns of doom.

But with the benefit of hindsight, that sort of form was unsustainable. Cardiff have a small actual playing squad and have, by and large, been pretty lucky with injuries this season, save a couple of games post-Christmas.

Bulut has learnt, though. He has learnt not to amp up the prospect of breaking into that top six come May. Indeed, that word is strictly out of his vocabulary for the time being.

EROL BULUT:

"In the past, I speak a lot about this. Now, I will be more careful," Bulut said when asked about how he viewed his side's realistic chances of making the play-offs.

"Right now, we cannot speak about play-offs. Right now, we have to think about every week. To get points and to be in a good position. And then, in the end, we will see where we are.

"Everyone was talking about this. Social media, fans, everybody. We have to know how we started, the expectations, we put it on that level. A few weeks we were in the play-offs, but we have to know what we have and what we can do.

"If it's possible, we will do it. But for now, we cannot speak about the play-offs."

Perhaps that is for the best, for the moment. Although fans will doubtless keep checking that gap to the top-six places until the end of the season.

Watching a doc on Bob Paisley the other day, couldn't stress how important bringing young players through was. Ours seem to be passing through.

Agree with him.

Let’s keep ticking along and see where we stand going into the final part of the season after March 16th.

No point focussing on the table with so long to go, let’s just concentrate on ourselves.

im still happy he spoke out about transfer as i think if he didnt he wouldnt of got the players he wanted and im sure he would of walked. i dont think this team is anywhere the level of the sides in the top 6 so whatever happens is a bonus i just really hope that in the summer we do actually go for it in terms of promotion next season. we need direction now and the manager needs a longer contract he already showed he can manage the poor quality team we have now so i have no doubt with proper backing he can get us up and challenge to stay up. i think tan is waiting on the court cases then he will sell up and i cant help but feel dalman will be taking over and he will sell to the highest bidder not long after
