Not been to a Wales game for a while.

Just wondering, what is their recent obsession with putting more in the Welsh language?

Such as referring to themselves as Cymru instead of Wales. A lot of their social media graphics are in Welsh too.

It never used to be like this and being honest, the majority of fans don’t speak the Welsh language on a daily basis.

Ned, there seems to be a big push to officially change our name from Wales to Cymru like the Brecon Beacons and Snowden have been changed to Welsh.

Seems to be the in thing to do around the world, I blame the Dutch for starting the trend.

Themselves ? Surely ourselves ? I could write an essay in response to your comment but with attitudes like yours we may as well call it a day as a country and become western England.

I don’t work for the FAW, so yes I mean themselves.

Feel free to write your essay, I’ll be more than happy to respond point by point. Post it in Welsh if it calms you down.

It’s the fact that this has happened in recent years. Like I said, it never used to be like it.

Stand by my point that the majority of people who go to Wales games (home and away) do not speak the Welsh language on a daily basis.

The promotion of the Welsh language is a WAG policy and has been in place for years - it's just gathering momentum and influencing different areas where national identity is heavily promoted e.g. sports.

I think it's fair enough and have no issue with it. I don't mind that there's investment in preserving the language (which is probably the oldest living language in Europe) because it can strengthen Welsh identity.

I did also read that the literal translation of the word Wales is quite derogatory: I understand it means something like "people with no land" or worse - if someone knows the exact translation, I'd be interested. It certainly wasn't a name chosen by the indigenous Welsh population.

So, you haven’t been to a game for a while, but claim to know what language supporters speak day-to-day. That’s a cool power tbf.

Just a warning, if you do go, you’ll hear lads speaking in Welsh and signing in Welsh. Might be worth staying in Worcester if that bothers you

So most games at CCS for Wales games are a sell out.

Are you saying that 16k of them speak Welsh on a daily basis? I have my doubts.

The Welsh language is a mid-Wales and North Wales thing, has been for a while.

I can speak Welsh but don’t use it. I visit Cardiff regularly and not just for City matches. Very rare I hear people speaking it.

Prove me wrong.

Ned your correct about not using welsh on a daily basis particularly in Cardiff which is strange as you cannot get your child into a welsh speaking nursery or high school because demand is so high as been for 20 odd years .. I go to e ery Welsh game and you hear it but not overly excessively.

Spot on Allan.

Obviously I live in England as that poster tried to have a go at me for, but I know very little people use the Welsh language in South Wales on a daily basis.

Used to visit Aberystwyth regularly because my sister went to Uni there. Much more prominent there which backs up what I’m saying.

Not a lot heared hear unless it's in shop but hear it a lot in carmarthen when go there..... the census says less speak Welsh but I suggest that is because the wrong question is asked or people don't put it down for whatever reason? But as said demand to go to all Welsh medium schools outstrip availability despite more schools being made welsh only ....as for subject matter is there a need to change anything? Snowden ect is not necessary and doesn't raise profile one bit.
