Been in the london catchment area has helped these smaller clubs player wise and population with full stadiums even though they are small
Reall cannot say about the ins and outs of running the club

Brentford made very brave decisions, such as getting rid of their academy. It could have gone very wrong for them, but fair play it worked out.
They’re not safe from relegation this season though. I expect they’ll stay up now they have Toney back.
Luton aren’t years ahead of us. They did well to make the play-offs in a weak league last season and ultimately got promoted. If they’d have lost in the final, they’d have seen a few players leave and revert to a mid table team. That’s exactly what has happened to Coventry.

Neither club are years ahead of us If you had maybe said Bournemouth there maybe something to talk about

Brentford have taken 9yrs to get to where they are? No academy they're using anylitacle stats to sighn players mainly from abroad..... to early to say if it is of long term benefit in premier league... at moment losing momentum.

Luton had 10 convective seasons in the top flight during the 80s and won the league cup. They've had a turbulent history since then and are in desperate need of a bigger ground, but not sure they're a small club.

What have Bristol city, Derby, Norwich, Ipswich, Brum, Stoke, Wednesday, Pompey

also done in that time ?
We have been relatively successful, especially in relation to our history of the last 80 years

We've had 2 chances. Bit of luck but more significantly some very poor managerial decisions, signings and general strategy.

Norwich - been promoted to the Prem several times during said period. Brum - been in Prem during that period and didnt they also win a major cup competition?
Stoke - had several successful seasons in the Prem in that period.
Pompey - beat us in 2008 FA Cup final and spent several seasons in the Prem.

I've stated before (and been shot down) wales and the west country is footballs dead zone because where we are geographically no other regions clubs have played so few seasons in the top division and won so few trophies.not saying it's always got to be this way but since professional first started in the nineteenth century it's been city 17 seasons in top division Wurzels 9 jack's 9 the rest 0

Martyn, I think it's more a case of the small mind this thread was created from...!
Anything to bash or undermine the club he purports to support...
Season ticket holder, apparently; so no wonder the CCS is so quiet on 'home' match days...!

Birmingham have won a league cup, couple of promotions to the PL
Pompey, beat us in the Fa cup and had a sustained period of time in the PL
Stoke have been to a FA cup final and sustained run of PL football

To be fair, the negative one achieved his primary aim of causing a negative stir-fest, scarpering when it's pointed out, and caring not a jot about the damage he does to the club with his continued bile...
