“ Finally a good result “

Tue Feb 13, 2024 3:26 pm

Cardiff City U21s had not won their last four matches going into today’s game away at Bristol City.

But today they finally got a win, by beating the home team 2-1 :bluebird:

Cian Ashford scored both goals.

Under the management of Darren Purse this season, Cardiff City U21s find themselves second bottom of the league with 17 points from 17 games.

They have only won four games.

Generally very poor results this season for the u21s.
On a brighter note I think the u18s have won 8 and drawn 1 of their last 10 games so not all is bad at the upper end of the Academy system.
The physical and structural set up at the Llanrumney site is one of the best Level 2 set ups in the country and is attracting youngsters from Swansea and Bristol areas as well as local lads that the club used to lose to those clubs. However. for that to flow through to possible first team improvements is going to take a number of years

Yes a good result:

Both clubs near the bottom of the League, Cardiff now 2nd from bottom and Bristol City 4th from bottom

Surely a major reason for a poor season is that most of our best under 21’s have been loaned out?

I read the results on the Soccerway website. According to that the u18s have played 12 games since 30 September 2023 , have won 8 , drawn 3 and lost 1. They also lost to Fulham in the cup in December.

Am I looking at the wrong website?

I follow City on The Cardiff City Accademy Site Twitter and Official Site.

This is their current results for the U18’s and they are awful.

Plus before today the U21 results have been awful.

Keith,

We are not going forward or improving.

We must be looking at different things here.

After your previous post I looked at the official CCFC website. On there is an U18 section for fixtures and results. It has a series of tabs which you can click on giving league and cup results for each month of the current season. The results on there are the same as the results I summarised from the Soccerway site which is 8 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat (plus a defeat to Fulham in the cup)from the last 12 games. Also, the official league table shows us lying third behind Watford and Bristol City.
Can you advise where you got your results from on the official website as there appears to be an anomaly here within the official site if you have seen different things to me.

Our Academy is far from perfect in terms of bringing players up to first team standard and hasn`t been for some time but it is a long term investment from U8 level upwards through the new facility in Llanrumney. It will require patience which is a skill most fans (including myself) find hard to apply.

Your post below simply ignores the question I asked.

In my post I listed all of the U18 results since September 2023 and clearly set out where I had picked them up from on Soccerway and (in detail) from where on the official CCFC website. They are vastly different from the results you posted so I simply asked where you had got them from as you said they were on the official website but they don`t appear to be. Your post below doesn`t answer my question at all but is just a photo of a couple of recent results.

Could you clarify.
