OPINION: A VIEW FROM AFAR...

Tue Feb 13, 2024 10:19 pm

Let's be honest here; this was always going to be a tough gig at The Hawthorns and a win would have been a heck of an achievement. However, this is football and he who dares often wins...

Sadly, after kicking off, the Bluebirds went behind to the first WBA attack after only 30 seconds...! :o

The way WBA carved through us was all too familiar and it seemed obvious that Jamilu Collins would take the brunt of it; and he did...

Not a great start but gradually we got back into it and had several good attacks without really threatening the WBA goal other than an efgort by Nat Phillips...

Both sides had decent periods throughout the game; but it seemed WBA always had the upoer hand and so it proved when they scored a late second to effectively seal the 3 points...

Some decent performances from our guys and for me, I think Phillips and Wilson-Esband look like decent additions. It was harder to tell with Horvath, as he didn't have a mass to do on the goal-keeping front...

If I have a real gripe, it is with the referee. Nothing to do with her being a woman or costing ud the game; but 100% with her being way beyond the play and making 'guesswork' decisions for/against both teams...

Another disappointing night; but signs of improvement for thr games ahead and as the team gels... :ayatollah:

Nat Phillips...? :?

I thought our general play was better against a tough away opponent... :ayatollah:

Chris there was signs of change on footballing direction but unfortunately we have to do things with new players at wrong time season? I'm sure we'll improve as like you say players jell ... whilst can say wba had best of play they only had 3 shots on target 1st and 80th minutes & one in-between football is about fine margins and if etete scores from 3yrds could been different story ...upwards and onwards oh the joys of being a city fan.

Better then against Preston but that is not saying much
I didn't expect to win against a team doing very well but it was all so predictable
2-0 and in truth, West Brom had a fairly easy night
I don't believe Bulut is a bad manager but he has inherited a squad with a losing mentality, that would have been relegated bar points deductions
Add injury prone Ramsey and a bunch of players nobody else wanted and there we go
I am just amazed we have 40 points

No meaningful attempts on goal. To quote Pte Frazer from Dad's Army, "We're doomed"

Its very frustrating as a fan but the club hasn't made any real investment for two years .you can see bulut is trying to change things up late in the season .He has his work cut out with his hands tied behind his back really.A hard job for any manager

I agree; and more likely to walk than be pushed...

Our owner expects to make a silk purse (hopefully not that Purse) out of sow's ear but the appointment of two decent managers in the last year (Lamouchi and Bulut) has proven it will take proper investment to claw our way back to the top... :ayatollah:

They were there for the taking tonight. We were just awful and zero threat until Ramsey came on. That Etete miss was an absolute howler.

Chris

Talking of Lamouchi, I don`t think he has found a job in football since he left us last May has he?
