Disappointing news.

We can forget about qualifying for the World Cup.

I'm not sure that a different manager would have got more out of team last night. They gave their all for him.

They gave their all but did we need 6 defenders on the pitch to mark one centre Forward?

Page is basic by the book lower level "c'mon for the nation" coach. We need a far more inventive coach for this generation of players

They gave their all, true. But the tactics were wrong.

Different manager would have won the game in 90 minutes by using better tactics.

I’m not a big fan of Page but can’t see how anyone can say we definitely won’t qualify for the World Cup,the draw hasn’t even been done yet and he done it last time out.
Wales team seems to more or less pick it’s self but he struggles to change tactics when needed and definitely struggles in tournament finals.
To his credit with his mediocre lower league management experience he has done well but if we are to move forward a change is needed.

He did it last time because Bale kept on saving him.

Trouble was having 6 defenders they ended up marking no one as Lewandowski dropped in as a no 10 so who was defenders marking upfront? Mustn't forget they didn't have a shot on target in 90mins and it wasn't because we stopped them shooting they simply wasnt getting forward enough to get shot in.....we had 5 I think so playing moore didn't work .... what's going to change next qualifying campaign? Nothing you suspect because he's done this several times already and learned sfa.. so not confident we'll qualify.

Not the first to rely on Bale's stardust. Almost certainly wouldn't have qualified for Euro 2016 without him.

Regardless of how he's perceived as a lower league manager, he's still taken us to the Euros and World Cup, so credit where credit's due.

Sure, Wales could probably attract a well known manager but there's no guarantee he would be more successful than Page. Look at England, they employed Eriksson and Capello but are more successful with 'lower league' Southgate.

What does the faw see in Rob page that majority of fans can’t see ?
It’s so obvious that he hasn’t a clue what he’s doing, they must be mates with him ,
I hope Ireland or Scotland are in future tournaments so I can support a team , cos wales definitely won’t be

When we last played in the World Cup it was universally acknowledged we were the worse team there. Terrible performances. Now we have come third in our European group and failed to qualify even via playoffs when we were given 2 home draws. In addition we lost all our nations league games and were relegated. Despite this the old farts at the top think we wlll qualify for the World Cup. We will be placed the 3rd best team in a group where only 1 might qualify automatically. As for Page saying we are a young team - we are not it’s a mixture of ages with a number over 30. He certainly cares and gives fans the feel good factor but his selections and tactics are so predictable. Just an opinion

Completely new qualification process for the 2026 World Cup.

Twelve groups of four or five teams with the top team qualifying and all the second placed teams (as well as best Nations League teams) going into the play-offs where there will be semi finals and a final just like Euro qualification.

My personal opinion is that a good higher rated coach ( probably from overseas) could take this bunch of young players to a new level.

We'll be in Pot 2 for the world cup draw assuming we don't have a catastrophic nations league. Don't be surprised if Scotland, ROI and NI are in Pot 3.

As a country we're probably going to end up back where we were before Bale, failing bravely at the final hurdle & waiting another 60 years to qualify for another world cup. We'll have a few good players like Rush, Giggs etc. were but no one single player like Bale who can make the difference on the day, say hi to the 70s,80s & 90s returning for those of us around then.

No need to renew red wall membership then till page goes back to league 2.

Re: Faw has announced Rob Page:

They would listen if the fans didn't turn up, they can start playing at the Jack's then with shit crowds, no atmosphere

Re: Faw has announced Rob Page:

Surely they should of just said

"Your stuck with Page because we can't afford to sack him after giving him such a long term contract"

Re: Faw has announced Rob Page:

We’ll only know what this squad are like under a better manager. Simple as that.

Is this the same Turkey that topped our Euro's qualifying group & who drew with us in Cardiff & beat us in Turkey? Yeah should be easy.

We should have beaten them here and draw away but page settled for 0-0 at start game! Said should top group but not convinced we will ... ffs we are as good if not better than all three teams we play? but got to play as if we are better not be scared of them like last night and during group stage.

Re: Faw has announced Rob Page:

It's going to cost them a lot more than his contract but Mooney should go for giving him a four-year deal with no caveats for Euro failure!!

Red wall membership will be down and so the surreptitious nationalism, so there is a good side.

Wales football's top official has confirmed Rob Page will continue as national team manager despite the failure to qualify for the Euro 2024 finals.

Football Association of Wales president Steve Williams has moved quickly to remove doubts over Page's future.

It comes after the penalty shootout defeat to Poland in Tuesday night's play-off final.

Page, 49, signed a deal in 2022 to take him through to the next World Cup.

Williams said: "The FAW can confirm Rob Page is their manager for the forthcoming campaign in accordance with his contract.

"Rob is the manager. His contract runs to the end of the World Cup and that is how we continue to work."

There will, as is routine, still be a review of the latest camp and campaign. But there is no appetite within the association to remove Page now as they believe the squad is still a work in progress under him.

Following the loss to Poland, Page said he was "absolutely" the right man to continue leading Wales into the Nations League and 2026 World Cup.

There had been tensions between Page and FAW chief executive Noel Mooney during the campaign but the pair held talks to clear the air, understood to have been instigated by Williams.

The Welsh squad have also voiced their backing for the Rhondda-born boss.

Page, who led Wales to their first World Cup since 1958 when they qualified for the Qatar tournament in 2022, has been in charge since November 2020, initially as an interim boss, but stepping up from his role as assistant to Ryan Giggs, who was involved in legal proceedings.

Wales start their Nations League campaign against Turkey in September.

Baffling how he didn’t bring Ramsay on to take a penalty, so poor tactically it’s unreal.
