NO REPLAYS

Thu Apr 18, 2024 10:57 am

There will be no replays in FA cup from first round proper with all games being on a Saturday and not midweek after 5th round.... £33m going to grass toots football every season from premier league clubs.

This only benefits the top clubs.

It can be huge for a League One/League Two club to earn an away replay at a club like Man Utd because they can then get some of the gate money of a 75,000 crowd. That can be enough money for them for a long time.

They’re giving money to grassroots but they still haven’t agreed a deal with the EFL.

They need to get that deal sorted or the independent regulator will force them into a deal, and the PL clubs won’t like it.

Replays have always been a part of the FA cup & as Worcester says this can only benefit the top clubs. It was always a case of either getting a replay at the big clubs grounds for the money it generated or getting the big club at the small clubs ground which many thought gave the smaller club the advantage. Nothing like an FA cup replay under the lights either way.

Ned premier league dont want to give efl more money also they don't agree with no parachute payments to clubs ? What didn't know was the efl money from them includes the parachute payments so at least 120m of it goes to just 3 clubs ... that cannot be right and something I've highlighted past 3 seasons or more about relegated clubs milking system to get promoted following season hence got 3 possible parachute clubs getting promoted and last season was 2 so Soon it will be 6 clubs with parachute payments in top 6 squeezing out the rest.... mind you efl sold clubs short like academy players being freely available to cat 1 clubs for pittance compared to the millions they'll make if sold later

Efl was not consulted over the switch total disrespect by premier league to rest of football

EFL are finally being firm with PL about what they want and the PL clubs don’t like it one bit.

EFL know that if the PL clubs don’t give them what they want, then the independent regulator will probably give them even more.

PL will then take on the independent regulator but very likely to lose. UK Government (whoever wins election) will take a very firm stance on this.

This us why they don't want regulator because can't screw efl clubs anymore ... but what's galling is no replays is because UEFA expansion along with fifa of club competition to line their pockets.... man c next season gets minimum 85m before ball is kicked in Europe no wonder don't want extra games played in Cup competitions can't do same for carrabu cup as its sanctioned by efl

It won't even be all PL clubs. It'll be the usual few. Just let them go away and become franchise FC playing in a European league out of Miami, Singapore and Riyadh. With plastic fans.

Leave proper football to proper fans.

Your right its basically top teams who get to Europe year on year ads this move can save them
3 or 4 extra games over course of a cup run... tramere want it discussed as clubs not happy about lack of consultation.... trouble is premier clubs couldn't care less if there wasn't an fa cup or league cup to start with as its an inconvenience to them...

Wish they would go to their super league and then ban them from re-entering our pyramid system when they get bored of playing each other week in week out as fans will soon get bored of it.

Not sure they need to leave as man c will get 85m next season without kicking a ball with the expanded competitions... also premier league lied they said everyone was involved in decision but they obviously missed telling efl ... :o

I expect it was in the same envelope they gave Ridsdale.
