Tan Protests

Sat May 11, 2024 10:40 am

Like the vast majority of people on here, I detest the stubbornness that is coming from VT.

As a club photographer, who provided his services free to the club I love, I had to effectively bow down to him and call him Tan Sri ("Lord") as if he somehow deserved my respect because he was older.

As a supporter I have watched him trample upon our historic blue shirts and show total disrespect to every single supporter who has walked through the gates of Ninian Park, and now the CCS, and to those who are buried in the grounds of those stadia.

He has shown total disrespect to Erol Bulut who, after a challenging season, got us to a position very few of us thought we would achieve.

And now, taking back the reigns, he is showing total disrespect to Mehmet Dalman who is using his funds to try and progress the club.

At Cardiff City, we are a family and, like all families, some of us argue with each other. But no family has a dictator as its head.

Now I know some dislike Sam, and I respect your beliefs, but to me, Sam has continued to support CCFC in the same way that each of us does. I understand Sam is quite wealthy now (more wealthy than VT) and would happily "waste" some of his money to see us in the Premier League. The only person stopping him is VT

Vincent Tan once said I would leave you in a better position than when I joined. Well, he has had at least 3 offers and one of those offers is from someone who is prepared to pay you over the odds for the club and, on top of that, spend to get us back amongst the elite.

It is only his stubbornness that stops this club going forward.

"Berjaya" FFS that means success. We should be called "Kegagalan" because, in my opinion, VT is a failure. Despite so many years at the club he has failed to unite the club and its supporters. He has failed to progress the club's league position. He has done even worse at FC Kortrijk and got out when he could after failing in Sarajevo and the MSL.

I agree we need to stand up and confront this dictator and rescue our club back and the only way we will do that successfully is if he believes his reputation, within Malaysia, is being affected.

Sorry for the rant, unusual from me I know, but I am so annoyed this morning!

Thanks Paul

Best post for ages.
It underpins it all really.

Bankrolling bumbling buffoonary.
Thousands of fans lost....
Achingly predictable seasons...
Piss poor passion.

I want him gone as well but for someone better, but I don’t think there are really that many to care enough to do anything a huge % won’t be interested unfortunately if they want him out. It’s one thing to say something a totally different thing to do something about it.

His attitude is not just down to age, he also thinks he's something very special in his country and is all knowing. It's cultural too but he is arrogant and stubborn. And this is his downfall in the business of football.

I worked for a Malaysian owned tech firm, big in Asia Pac and wanted to land and expand in Europe. I told him exactly what was needed which included investment. He was insistent on what worked there would work here. Which it didn't. I left after a while and they are still doing the same thing and getting the same results.

And funnily enough, the board and senior managers were all yes men and wouldn't challenge him for fear of getting the tin tack.

Sound familiar?

No. That's why I get hired. But tossing your kindergarten comment aside, Tan should do what all the best firms do, hire people smarter than them so they can tell them what to do and let them get on with it. And he could do that in a heartbeat but won't.

I think most of us would say that we know better than the people who actually run the companies we've worked for just because we would see the day to day little issues that would be easy fixes but are non issues to the head honchos who don't want to know or listen. On the other hand if we were the people running the company we would be the same.

Fair enough. I just find it amazing how many Malaysian companies you worked for then left because they so badly run. The odds that your experiences match your agenda are absolutely astounding. Of all the different companies and countries you seem to always work for one that’s from same region as the owner you despise. We all know someone like that that’s done it all but better.

But the rebrand, multiple court cases, cheap managers, dividing our fan base, empty promises, part time people running the club from London and borrowing money from companies at an extortionate interest rate are not "little issues", they are the main issues.

Is anybody able or willing to explain how Sam Hammam has become incredibly rich?

In the original post it is said that Sam is now wealthier than Tan and this has been stated a few times on this board recently.

How did that come about?

Is there any evidence available to support this at all?

Genuinely interested in how Sam has, according to some on this board, becoming wealthier than Tan all of a sudden.

Re: Tan Protests

Sat May 11, 2024 4:15 pm

If we are to protest there needs to be a clear purpose to it. What do we want? What’s in our control?

If the protests are Tan Out focused then they’re pointless as he’s not going anywhere until we get a buyer.

I honestly don’t think there’s any point to protesting, as sad as that seems. We bent over and accepted the rebrand and now Tan thinks he can do what he wants.
I fear we’ve many more years of shit to come and ultimately relegation and administration.

More borrowed money no doubt. It does not matter who the next owner is that's where it comes from eitherway at an interest rate just like the one we got. :bluescarf:

I don't know if this is culture or because he is the leader of a "family" business that's just got all too big for him and he has no experience of releasing control to anyone.
But if this was a "normal" business you hire the smartest, most knowledgeable people you can, just like Jim Ratcliff is doing.

I've worked for one Malaysian owned firm. Zero idea how you think I've said many by then again, you have zero idea about anything. I've done lots, you've done nothing and will never do anything of note, your comments and lack of intellect prove it. And you know it. And your jealousy of those that are simply just better than you speaks volumes. But as you're just plain dull, you're too thick to even see that.

That's just the way it is, so no point in trying to discredit me, it just proves the above is true, which it is.

And yes, I do know Sam. And no, I don't despise Tan, he just either needs to move on or get someone in where everybody wins, including him.

Count yourself lucky I've even taken the time to bother replying to you as it's like talking to a potato. So that's the last time I will. Think on about what I've said above, it resonates with you, yes? You may even learn something but I very much doubt it. And so do you. Be lucky.

I don't know if this is culture or because he is the leader of a "family" business that's just got all too big for him and he has no experience of releasing control to anyone.
But if this was a "normal" business you hire the smartest, most knowledgeable people you can, just like Jim Ratcliff is doing.

The family business is very relevant. The club owes him a quarter of his and their net worth and they want out. They are not interested in a football portfolio which is now a pair of lead boots, whilst he treads water. But he still thinks he can turn it around, which he could, or at least have a smart approach and a final throw of the dice.

So your absolutely right, that's in the mix too and I suspect more than most people suspect.

Bless you. You need some help. You think throwing insults to someone you think you don’t know is noteworthy. Or because you been called out. Behaviour like you could cause the wrong person to harm themselves. Fortunately for you I’m not like that but please consider the harm you attacks on people could do to them.

I'll bite once more just to clarify how odd you are and why everyone should avoid you. Which they generally do as you add nothing to any conversation, as your as odd as you are thick. And you know it. And it makes you angry. Doesn't it?

Under your previous handle, Iceblue, you did exactly the same thing as your last comment before you eventually got banned for "baiting" to try to get people who "called you out" for what you are, which is just plain odd, cancelled. Right? Race baiters do the same, and you are just the other cheek on the same arsehole.

Oh, and heres the email address you posted for people to contact you for a "chat" - Coffeewhite15@hotmail.com. Sad.

And speaking of arseholes, I'm just about to take a dump, and what will be shortly on its way to the Bristol Channel has a higher IQ than you and smells a whole lot better. Bye Bye.

As I alluded to, in my original post, VT wont feel affected if the British Press is against him. It will only concern him if his reputation in Malaysia is brought under scrutiny.

As a photographer my contacts at the Malaysian Star were as follows:

StarSports (starspt@thestar.com.my)
Rajes Paul
Senior Editor, Sports (Pengarang Kanan, Sukan)

E-mail: rajespaul@thestar.com.my

StarBiz (starbiz@thestar.com.my)
Jagdev Singh Sidhu
Editor, Business (Pengarang, Bisnes)

E-mail: jagdev@thestar.com.my

These are the people we will need to convince to publicise the concerns we have in Cardiff
