Police are on red alert over the possibility that Manchester United and Leeds United fans could both be at Wembley within 24 hours of each other.

They needn’t have worried in the end as we were turned over on our own patch - although Howard Webb helped Reading as much as he could.

We didn't play well that evening but yes, the FA got their golden boy Howard Webb to make sure both us and the jacks weren't traveling up the M4 together. That could have been chaos.

Probably saved us a playoff final defeat at their hands which would be haunting me to this day

I've always thought the nearly Wembley meeting in 97 would have been worse. Even with it being the div 4 play off . Younger hooligans and fans not worried about being banned and missing the premiership.

It's just hype talk, they will bring officers down from Manchester and Leeds local forces too anyway so
