“ Next Season “

Mon May 20, 2024 11:37 am

Norwich City’s nearest away day next season is a 200-mile round trip to Luton.

They haven’t got it as bad as Plymouth though, whose nearest is a 240-mile round trip to Bristol.

Plymouth Argyle have 9 away days next season which are 500+ miles round trips.

CARDIFF CITY Travel to Swansea, Bristol City, Portsmouth, Oxford United, Plymouth, Watford, WBA, Coventry , Luton, Derby, Millwall , QPR etc many places City should sell out.

Hopefully Southampton again.

What hinders our away average is that of the games you say we should sell out Plymouth Oxford Luton and Swansea will give well under 2000 tickets. Pompey WBA Millwall Watford QpR the allocation will be around 2000 max . Bristol have restricted our allocation. It's only Coventry and Derby we could take big numbers to and Derby is over a 300 mile round trip.

Some of our support has been poor this year but you are spot on with your point. You get some clubs which give very big allocations to away fans and so the numbers can be skewed in favour of the clubs around them. A few years ago you had Burnley, Wigan, Blackburn and Preston all within 20 miles of each other with the latter three giving up to 5,000 to away fans. Imagine how many we would take if we would take if we played at Newport and had unlimited allocation. Whilst QPR , Fulham and Brentford were all in the same league a few yew years ago. They are a long walk away from each other.

What has amazed me is how good some of the away support of some clubs has been and I have a feeling that maybe other clubs are being more proactive in organising away support rather than relying on the supporters clubs to do it.

I think our support was decent bearing in mind what entertainment the team gave us. Fans turned at Plymouth because we had enough of it. Players were shocked but they deserved what we gave them.
