' BIGGEST SHAKE UP TO BRITISH FOOTBALL OWNERSHIP SHELVED '

So a bit more bad news and unfortunately very relevant to Annis's OP on a separate post subject:

The government have just shelved the The Football Governance Bill at the eleventh hour.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/28092458 ... shi-sunak/

⬆️This affects FABs who were put there as part of the Fan Led Review process so they could be involved with the running of the club at board level. And fair play to the club for doing this in advance of the bill being passed.

Interestingly, the PL are opposing this bill as it will affect how they operate plus they don't want more money going to the rest of the pyramid. I personally think that this has influenced the delay but then again, I'm suspicious of most things involving bodies like the PL and FIFA etc. Oh yes, and most of all anything to do with any government.

So if no bill and official regulator, clubs can do what they like which make FABs in affective on pressing the key strategic issues. They can get in with other stuff but in terms of the key questions, finances, budget, plan, atmosphere etc they can't ultimately affect it.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT:
This is important stuff. Boring. But important. As these are all good initiatives and baked into law and backed by a regulator thus finally giving the fans a say into how our club operates:

The bill would mean things like:

1: Publishing of budget and "the plan" in detail.
2: No rebrands.
3: No ridiculous naming rights.
4: No badge alteration without consultation and approval.
5: "Golden Share" for supporters that give us the power to veto anything strategic that we don't like.

There's lots of other great stuff in there too including the bodies, organisations, supporters clubs, trusts and individuals who were consulted as part of the FLR process at Annex C. Here's a link if you fancy a butchers:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... mes-future

It's all boring detail to fans who really shouldn't be concerned about these things and who just want to enjoy the football and quite right too. I'd rather be taking about the actual game of football from the studs up but I just find it all a bit suspicious, as it is perhaps the most important change in British football in its history.

But just like our finances, budget & realistic and achievable "plan", it's all key to our future.

And on that happy note, is there any news yet on whether EB has finally signed along with details of our budget and "plan"?

SEEING RED Biggest shake up to football ownership in years is SHELVED by Tories as PM has just 1 week to get key bills through

The Football Governance Bill would have given powers to an independent body to oversee clubs in England's top five men's tiers

FOOTBALL fans have been dealt a huge blow as the sweeping crackdown on dodgy owners won't see the light of day before the general election.

The Football Governance Bill, which would have set up an independent regulator for the sport, has been ditched as there is not enough time to push it through the House of Lords before Parliament dissolves.

Paul,

So does this mean FAB just formed by Keith Morgan, who already failed to ask any straight forward questions to the people they met instead of the Hierarchy , are even now more a waste of time?

I thought this bill regarding below had already been passed?
I’m sure Keith Morgan said he helped get it passed?

The Trust and SC are part of the FAB along with the disability reps, corps and indies etc. Unless this bill is eventually passed it does make it difficult for any FAB to have a real affect on the important issues and especially with us, as the ownership structure of the club means that any really important decision is deferred to Tan.

I'm sure that this bill will get passed but I don't trust the PL and I suspect they may have had some involvement in its delay as not happy with it.

Its early days for the indies on the FAB and I'm sure that they and the other members will be asking the questions we want as they grow into the role. Is also like to see the atmosphere issue addresses in the same way as Arsenal and Burnley said it was a problem affecting performance and made it a key operational target.

The bill was supported by all parties.

But it didn’t get through parliament because they only had the limited time of two days to get bills passed after the General Election was called. Parliament stopped sitting on Friday until July because of the GE.

It’s one of a few that didn’t have time to pass.

I expect this will be picked up in the next Parliament, whoever wins the election.

I don’t trust the PL:

I really hope next time they ask real questions and then they will be backed by all our fans.

I hope Ned it gets past in September, by the New Labour Govt.
