“ Pep Guardiola to leave Manchester City “

Sun May 26, 2024 7:57 pm

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is set to leave the club at the end of next season.

The club want him to stay but he thinks 2025, when his contract expires, will be the right time to leave.

He knows that MC will have big points deduction in the autumn so he doesn't fancy championship football.
Also, his legacy e.g titles and cups will probably be wiped from all record books.

It's just a shame its taken so long.

Good point and indeed a shame it’s taken so long as was looking forward to Pep sticking to his pledge to manage the club even if they were demoted and would have been funny seeing him as a manager in non league football

They won't take any titles or cups off them. They haven't bought refs (or have they) or drugged players, just broke nearly every rule designed to protect the incumbent legacy "big" clubs from the nouveau riche billionaire class.

I am racking my limited brain to think besides the Leicester miracle of a team that hasn't bought the title.

Forest, first million-pound players
United, always broke the transfer record
Liverpool highest paid for a defender and keeper at the time
Arsenal £100 for a stopper.

Citeh has just bought a squad full of 60~80 million players.

Think they get hit with 20 points so concentrate on the Champions League

I think you are being a bit unfair on Forest, they won the title in their first year back in the First Division and I dont think Francis signed until the following year. Shilton was the crucial signing and he only cost around £300,000 albiet a record transfer fee for a keeper.

Good fed up of seeing his face , neat clothes and kissing and hugging of players who clearly don't want to be hugged and kissed.

You forgot Blackburn but the point still stands true, as they were bankrolled to the title by Jack Walker.
