Vincent Tan speaks out on Erol Bulut's Cardiff City deal and pledges 'full support'

The Bluebirds owner has spoken out after agreeing a new deal with the manager
By Glen Williams

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has pledged his "full support" to Erol Bulut after the manager signed a new deal with the club.

Bulut has penned a two-year contract with the Bluebirds after overseeing a 12th-placed finish during his maiden season in charge in south Wales.

Vincent Tan:

“What was clear under Erol’s management last season was that we were making progress and showing improvement. I believe he has laid some strong foundations on which he will build," said Tan upon the announcement of Bulut's deal.

“He will be fully backed next season and has our full support.”

Reaching a new agreement was not straightforward, however, with both the owner and manager having to meet in the middle on a number of factors when agreeing new terms.

Concerns from the owner over playing style on were rumoured, while Bulut sought assurances over the length of his contract, transfer budget as well as off-field appointments.

However, a deal which will appease everyone, not least the vast majority of Bluebirds supporters, has now been struck and Tan has praised the "strong foundations" Bulut laid during his first year in charge and hopes he will build on them next term.

Interesting that he says “fully backed”.

We have heard that before so I will reserve judgement on that until it actually happens.

Positive that they say targets have been identified.

Well I am glad to finally see stability at our club.

I am still on the fence regarding Bulut, but he has my full support.

If Tan is finally backing Bulut fully, then I do finally after all these years except to see at least one real quality Striker brought in, as everyone for years knows we need one beyond.

If this is all genuine from Tan and I mean if ??? I I expect City to be in the Top 6 without a doubt.

And I expect to see some good signings.

Why should we trust this mans words.

Not having any of it. Sooner he gets out the better

I sense and fear a big struggle coming. League will be stronger, clubs are wise to how Bulut always plays. They will be prepared more for the set pieces, just keep his back to goal and man mark whoever our striker is as he never gets support or runners, exploit our lack of width and pace, If it continues how last season limped over the line it will be toxic at CCS, I hate that. But I will voice loudly if good or bad.

I hope EB rams my fears up my ass and surprises me, and that the three unwise men at the top finally do one, and take your red seats, wiggly worm and giant Visit banners with you.

Good luck Erol, your a great bloke, strap yourself in with us, Its not a Bulut Train its a Bluebirds roller coaster, here we go...........

Haha, good post. I totally agree with you, Bulut has to change style, system, tactics or we'll be in a relegation fight next season.

I agree the style has to improve but not that we’ll be in a relegation fight.

We weren’t in a relegation fight last season with these tactics.

There are several teams in this league who are a lot worse than us, even with our loan players going back.

I hope you're right. Hopefully the new coaches ( if this is true) will have some experience in this league and bring some fresh ideas to our game. If not I still fear we'll be in a relegation fight.

Ive been heavily critical of Bulut and his style of play. But we need stability to be able to build and move forward.

Let’s hope that there is significant investment in the first team squad from VT. :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Talk of another move for Keiffer Moore over the next few weeks. I have my reservations but I now accept that City did not meet Bournemouth's purchase/loan valuation

Hopefully we leave KM where he is, he didn't want to come here over Ipswich no matter how much we offered Bournemouth to loan him to us, be it 10 pound or 10 million pound. He had no reason to want to come here over Ipswich, we were never going to push for promotion & he has no loyalty to this club over any other no matter how many people seem to think he is some sort of striker genius & would be a returning hero because he had 1 whole good season, he's not.

Really? Are you begrudging a professional for not picking us over a promotion medal? He made the right choice in my opinion.

I'd have him back tomorrow. He's as "off the shelf" as they come for a team who's struggling for goals.

Not at all begrudging him that & didn't say that, the clue is in what I said in the words "He had no reason to want to come here". I have said on here a few times that he made a good decision to go to Ipswich, didn't want him to come here then & still don't. I just don't think he's a Cardiff City hero like some do, he had one good season & then downed tools to get his way like a petulant child. There are no doubt younger & more eager strikers out there who would like to come here.

Nothing you say is going to change my opinion of him so just accept that someone dares to think differently to you & I'm sure I'm not alone in my thinking.

Look its been said before, it was nothing to do with KM we did not want to pay wages that Bournemouth were asking.; End of story

Positive news, however I have zero trust in Tan and believe he is saying what we want to hear. The sooner he's gone the better. We will see how the season develops and whether it's another ground hog year. Tan out :bluescarf:

Please list 3 better, younger, "more eager" ( :laughing6: ) at this level who are realistic signings for Cardiff City.

KM did down tools after the Wolves episode, he's a pro and there's not much loyalty in football at the elite level when it comes down to it, from either the club or the players.

But he just disappeared for us at that time and was unprofessional. He's a decent player and probably a good guy but I wouldn't want that sort of attitude in the dressing room now as we are now hopefully trying to build something if Tan gives us a reasonable working budget.

Kompany always said that the talent is out there and can be bought in reasonably, the trick is having the type of scouting network that Kompany built up and Bellamy said was key.

So it's a no for me for KM.
