The main talk during the summer break in football is nearly always about forwards. Who teams can sign that scores loads of goals or assists and who is the next Messi or Ronaldo etc.
I think however defence is just as important and looking at our options we really do need to strengthen.
DEF: Collins, Ng, McGuinness, Goutas, Romeo, Bagan, Fagan-Walcott, Tsunoda
GK: Horvath, Alnwick, Luthra, Turner
In defence we have x2 kids and x1 untested player (Tsunoda). IMO Romeo and Collins aren't up to it and we need a solid CB as well if we want to challenge. That's 3 signings minimum in defence.
GK wise, I'm not 100% on any of them. In order to move forward we need to improve so that's 1 signing minimum.
Therefore I think 4 new signings overall in the defence should sort us out a bit but the big question is will we be able to spend on 4 players just for the back line?

Kipre is available on a free and I'd like to see us play with wing backs, so maybe Tanner a possibility on the left side.
Drameh is also available and would be a good addition

I wouldnt dwell too much on the goalkeeping situation as for me hogarth and alnwick are in the top 6 goalkeepers in the division and our real priority yet agaon is getting goals and pace into our game. As to defenders a lot depends on weather mcguiness and ng attract attention from other clubs if not i can see us sticking with what we have with maybe a loan signing or two coming in, bit like phillips and the man city younster last year. Lets get the goals sorted first then we can afford to let a goal or two in and still have a chance to win games.

Totally agree with this.
Obviously defence is important, if you don't concede you do not lose. But if you can consistently bang in 2-3 goals per game you have a much greater chance of winning. Obvious.....but true.

Joe Worrall is available on a free from Notts Forest. We probably don't have a chance as assume his wages are comparable to Philips at Liverpool...but what a signing that would be, would certainly put a marker down for the season ahead. A true leader at centre back (albeit a but injury prone)
