Romaine Sawyers has taken to Instagram to say goodbye.
“What a pleasure it was sharing the dressing room and the pitch with this group of players over the last 2 seasons! All the best in the future Bluebirds it was an honour to represent you guys.”
What a frustrating player. I was excited when he joined.
He scored on his debut if I remember correctly, and showed glimpses of what he is able to do. He is clearly talented.
For some reason, he didn't show that here - reminds me of other players who could have been great but weren't.
Tomlin and Ravel Morrison spring to mind.
What they could have been if they had the right attitude.
Clearly a nice guy though and I wish him well.

How do you know that about him? From what I heard, he genuinely looked for another club but no one would have him on his wages as his legs have gone. He was perfectly entitled to stay on that wage and by all accounts did a lot behind the scenes to help with the youngsters coming through. Not all footballers are complete mercenaries.

Have to agree with you. If we had a job contract for a certain time for a certain wage we wouldn’t just walk away would we? He did always come across as a tidy guy.

I wish him the best for what he does next.
I constantly heard that he was working hard in training and provided good support to the other players.
The sad reality is that he lost a lot of the quality and pace he had when he was at Brentford and West Brom.
If he continues playing, he will probably have to drop to League One or go abroad.
But I wish him nothing but good things.

All the best to him. Same it didn't work out for him as we'd all have liked at City.
If he's willing to drop down a league or two, he could control most games with his experience.

There is always the tendency to criticise players that don’t play but on decent wages.
The club didn’t have to offer him decent wages and prior to Erol he was a reasonably regular player who
Popped up with some important goals for us
The guy never once complained. Dropped tools or whinged. He was a squad player all last season, regularly featuring on the bench.
He was happy and smiling on all promotional clips and photos for social media and helped with the young players.
He then left a very nice message on his departure which he didn’t have to do.
I’ve a great deal of respect for him as a pro. A lot could learn and lot from him and I wish him nothing but the best for his future.
